The other fact we know about Diane, from her friends in the film, is she was a very aggressive driver. Honking the horn, tailgating, yelling at her friends who were behind the wheel for not driving that way, etc. Which is how she was driving for part of that fateful day, according to witnesses...

That came from an anonymous source in a N.Y. Post article, not the film. Since there was no other evidence presented along this line, I tend to doubt it. As to whether Diane was drunk at the campground, there's a bit of evidence she was not; the campground manager said she talked to her up...

RE: going off course after the Warren call Could have been as simple as Diane's pride or embarrassment kicking in when Warren said he was coming to find her, and not wanting to be found in a drunken/stoned state with the kids. But according to the evidence, she was drinking and smoking right...

That's quite possible, yeah, and there are other factors that don't fit my theory. I should have said "taken together," the things I listed convey determination to me.

That's why I still lean murder-suicide theory, despite the good points Nova and others have raised. How could one make that difficult on-ramp maneuver and then drive "pin straight" for nearly two miles while blackout drunk? And that's on top of Diane setting her phone aside and turning in the...

Just when I get thisclose to forgetting about this case and moving on, someone new pops in with interesting points/theory :) Any new information from the civil suits, or is that process still ongoing?

But if you thought others were going the wrong way and flying right at you, wouldn't you slow down and/or do everything possible to get out of the lane? None of this is rational, though, so who knows.

Are you sure about that? I've never heard of families signing off on crime scene photos. There's no way the families of the West Memphis Three victims, for example, would have. As for why no one else was shown, it would have been in incredibly poor taste. They were blameless, and Diane wasn't.

Loathe as I am to defend Danny, I'm skeptical that he "allowed" those photos to be shown. The only way he would have had final say over them being shown is if shot them himself.

I agree that wasn't handled well in the film. They focused almost exclusively on whether she was drunk at that point, which to me is irrelevant. She had plenty of time thereafter to get drunk. She did look agitated in the store, like she was in an absent-minded hurry, especially if you watch it...
