Marathon County Sheriff Facebook:

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Tara Jane Sullivan, a 47-year-old Weston woman. Tara is approximately 5’ 7” tall, 128 pounds, and has green eyes. Her current hair color and clothing description is unknown. Additionally, anyone who knows Tara well or has had contact with her in the past two weeks is asked to call the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office at 715-261-1200, option 5, to speak with an investigator.

Yesterday morning, deputies responded to the report of a cellphone found in the Town of Ringle and learned it belongs to Tara. In an attempt to return the phone, deputies went to her residence in the Village of Weston. Tara was not present and deputies discovered suspicious circumstances surrounding her disappearance. An attempt-to-locate alert was broadcast to neighboring law enforcement agencies at that time.

Yesterday afternoon, off-duty officers of the Wausau Police Department were traveling on Highway 29 in Shawano County and saw Tara’s unoccupied vehicle parked on the side of the road. A search led by the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office has been initiated in the area along Highway 29 between Wittenberg and Shawano. At the time of this release, Tara’s whereabouts are still unknown.

This is an active investigation. Anyone who knows Tara or has had contact with her in the past two weeks is asked to call the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office at 715-261-1200, option 5. This information is valuable in assisting authorities in identifying the circumstances surrounding her disappearance. If you see Tara or know of her whereabouts, please call 9-1-1 so that law enforcement can verify her safety.

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office has been assisted by the Everest-Metro Police Department and the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office.

I fear the suspicious circumstances the officers encountered at her residence as that sort of information is not always included in an initial missing report.
Hoping those that know her see this and contact authorities with any information they may have.

MARATHON AND SHAWANO COUNTIES (NBC 26) — Officials from Marathon County are asking for the public's help in searching for Tara Jane Sullivan after deputies discovered suspicious circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

At first glance you wouldn't think this was the same woman, but if you check out the teeth (which are pretty distinctive) they are the same.

And police aren't usually in the business of personally returning lost cell phones. There must have been something suspicious enough on the cell phone for them to attempt to return it.

[...]

Deputies from Shawano County and beyond are using a drone and teams of specially trained dogs to comb the area for the missing woman.

“Any information is valuable to us at this point, as we try to connect the dots from when she left the house to when she got here and where she will be at this point”, said Lieutenant Chris Madle from the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office.

[...]

“If anyone in the area of 29 can let us us know when the car got here, or anybody suspicious in the area saw anybody walking around the highway - any valuable information that can help us connect the dots of how she got here and where she may be at this point,” Chris Madle said.

[...]

Right now authorities really want to talk to anyone who’s been in touch with her recently. If you have, please contact the Marathon County authorities or your local law enforcement agencies.

Meanwhile, MM and HG from Realty ONE Group Haven (with offices in Appleton, Green Bay, Oshkosh and Wausau) issued the following statement to be shared by the media:

“Tara Jane Sullivan has previously been affiliated with Realty ONE Group Haven, and during that time developed great friendships with all of those on our team. We are all cooperating with law enforcement to assist with their investigation. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tara and all who love and care for her, and we are hopeful for her safe return. We ask that anyone that has information that would assist law enforcement in her safe return, to please call the tip line.”

MM, the owner of the office in Appleton, confirmed that Tara Jane Sullivan has been working out of the company’s office in Wausau.

Reminds me of Beverly Carter's case. Is Tara's disappearance related to being a realtor?

It would be helpful if authorities said exactly when and where her phone was found in Ringle and where exactly her vehicle was found on Hwy 29 in Shawano County. This would help pinpoint the locations for potential witnesses to recall if they saw something suspicious in a specific area. The 50 miles between Weston and Shawano is a pretty big area. I can't understand the delay in releasing information, especially in this area where so many missing person cases have gone cold and murders have gone unsolved. The ones below are only recent samples.

Personally, IMO, I'd stay the heck out of Shawano County. I've heard too many horror stories including being systemically railroaded in their legal and court system with the main goal being to see how much money they can extract out of you. You can't even find a court-appointed lawyer to handle a case in a reasonable amount of time. IMO, of course.

I would also like to know the location where her car was found and have been using the video at the link below to narrow it down. The reporter is saying LE is there using K-9's and drones, but I cannot seem to pinpoint the spot.

At the 1:05 min mark in the video, the reporter says "...we are on Old 29, this is the busy Highway 29 (she turns around and points behind her where there is a slight incline and curve in the road which leads up to a stop sign) that's further down the road here. Now, this is where her car was found on Tuesday."

Unfortunately, you can't take the little yellow man down some of the side roads and I think that may be why I can't find it. Maybe you will have better luck? MOO

Is it a small area? The cops around my area definitely return cell phones - I ran a gas station for years and would call them for phones, drivers licenses, purses, wallets, etc - they would always return things to the locals and call out of area to get things returned to travelers. I'd like to know how they knew it was hers, most of the time in my area we would recognize someone from the lock screen, but I'd say 95% of phones were locked - so we couldn't call a contact.

It only took me an hour to find it. The reporter was in the Town of Seneca on Old Highway 29 between Morris Town Hall and Weasel Dam Rd. She was a 100 ft south of Hwy 29 WWI Vet Mem Hwy just south of Bowler.

Prob so in small towns. Ringle, population 1,700. Ringle is about 26 miles west of where her car was found. Bowler is 6 miles north of where her car was found. North Star Mohican Casino is in Bowler.

She hasn't sold any homes for almost a year according to this page, yet wasn't it stated by her employer in the press release that she was still working for them out of a different office? Am I missing something? Perhaps the home sales weren't updated?

No one knows Tara's current hair color, which is very odd, and we have a statement from her former co-workers. When was the last time anyone saw Tara?
I agree that the lack of a current description is very odd. Has she been isolated for some time?
I lived near the Wausau area for 5+ years. It seems very strange to me that no one in this small of a town (Weston) has a recent description of her appearance
