OK OK - Bill Shipley, 47, Norman, 19 July 2011

This is an interesting case, and, it would seem, possibly a quite solvable one; for article links, check out summer_breeze's excellent compilation about this case here, at WS's Missing Persons Information and Support:

OK - Bill Dwayne Shipley - 47 years old - Goldsby - 19-Jul-2011

Today's Daily Oklahoman article provides not only new information but also a short background of the case:

Pickup belonging to missing Goldsby man is found in Oklahoma City
---
McClain County Undersheriff Bill Shobe said the pickup Shipley was driving, a 2002 Chevy S-14 crew cab, was found Tuesday evening in the Oklahoma City area.

“There was no sign of him,” Shobe said. “That's what I want. I want him. We have the truck secured and are processing it.”

I have so many questions about Mr. Shipley!

Someone was keeping an eye on his every move.

When the vehicle was finally towed, workers at the impound lot ran the license number and VIN, which returned a hit that the pickup was sought by law enforcement

His work vehicle, a 1988 Jeep Comanche, was found Aug. 20, 2011 at a different apartment complex in the city.

So the truck he work truck was found last aug 20th 2011 at a different complex and the truck he was driving when he went missing was found the 14th of this year. I hope they are looking at contractors who works in the complexes. It seems the home depot use of his CC might indicate a person who might have been doing odd jobs with him.

Seems like LE are on their way to finding the suspect. I just think the case needs a bit more attention...

Bill Shipley withdrew more than $3,000 from an ATM in Goldsby before leaving for jobs in Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri. He was never seen again...

When investigators arrived at Shipley's mobile home, they found the doors open and a shed unlocked.

One of his vehicles, a 1988 Jeep Comanche, was found Aug. 20, 2011, at an Oklahoma City apartment complex. Equipment including a generator and two airless paint sprayers were missing from the pickup...

That video, which shows Shipley buying two drinks at the Sonic on Highway 9 across from Riverwind Casino, is the last time he was seen.

What the video doesn't show is who was in the pickup with Shipley.

Tompkins said Shipley, a painting contractor, had earlier withdrawn $3,000 from his bank account at an ATM.

Shipley frequently took jobs out of state and it wasn't unusual for him to withdraw large sums of cash, the detective added...

a person of interest used Shipley's credit card at a gas station and steak house in Norman Aug. 12, 2011, and at a Home Depot in Oklahoma City Aug. 13, 2011. That was the last activity on his credit card.

Details of Disappearance
Shipley was last seen on July 19, 2011. He worked as a contract painter and had a job in Kansas, but he never arrived there and has never been heard from again. Because his family knew he would be out of state, they didn't become concerned about his absence for weeks. When they finally went to his home on Adkins Road in Goldsby, Oklahoma to check on him, they found the front door open, the power off and the house in disarray.

His clothing was packed for the trip, but was left behind at home. Both of his vehicles, a red 1988 Jeep Comanche with the Oklahoma license plate number LBD 638 and a red 2002 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck with the license plate number FSH 262, were gone. The Jeep, which was his work truck, was found abandoned a month after Shipley's disappearance was reported, at an apartment complex in south Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Items he used for his painting business, including lights, professional ladders, cans of paint and two airless sprayers, were missing. Shipley's Chevrolet was located at another apartment complex, with a mile of the complex where the Jeep had been found.

Authorities were able to find video surveillance footage of Shipley on the day of his disappearance. He was at a Sonic near Riverwind Casino and there was a passenger in his vehicle. This passenger never came forwards and has never been identified.

Another man used Shipley's credit card at several locations in Norman, Oklahoma weeks after his disappearance. This person is considered a person of interest in his case. Photos and a sketch of the man are posted with this case summer. He's described as Caucasian, about 50 years old, and 6'2 and 250 pounds with a large stomach and light-colored hair and eyes. He wore tan overalls, a white long-sleeved shirt, brown Western-style work boots and a green John Deere baseball cap.

Investigators believe Shipley met with foul play and that multiple individuals were involved. His case remains unsolved.
