if it's solved/blamed on someone who is deceased and it it just so happens to occur around the 20 year anniversary I would find it pretty suss.

Also - regarding "panel van"

it was mentioned by Brett Christian that it was a commericial vehicle. Is Australian meaning of panel van different to the US one?

In my mind I always pictured a regular van, just without glass windows (like an electrician's van), not one of the station wagon looking surfer mobiles.

That's what I picture as well. US doesn't have panel vans. I've never heard the term before last week (but it sounds like a good way to describe a painter or electrician van).

A man dragged a woman from her car after she had left Club Bay View. He tried to rape her, but she fought him off. (1)
A woman fights off man who dragged her from her car and tried to rape her near Claremont subway. (8)
A girl was waiting at the stop sign at the Claremont subway, was pulled from her vehicle and survived an attempted rape. (papertrail)

Princess Rd - October 31, 1994 (Monday)
A 31-year-old woman got into a taxi near the club. A man hiding in the back seat grabbed her, but she jumped from the car, breaking a leg. (1)

Karrakatta - February 12, 1995 (Sunday)
A girl, 17, was abducted at Rowe Park, tied with an electrical cord, raped and left for dead at Karrakatta Cemetery. She had been abducted walking home from the club. (1)

Golf Course - 1995
In 1995 a young woman got into a taxi in Claremont and the driver drove her to the other side of the railway line to the golf course. Forcibly stripped of her clothes, she managed to escape, banging on the door of a nearby house and screaming for the couple who lived there to let her in. Completely traumatised, it took an hour for her to finally splutter out what had happened. (11)

Church Lane - March 03, 1996 (Sunday)
A 21-year-old woman was indecently assaulted in a lane behind Club Bay View, which she had left about 2am. Her head was bashed six times against a brick wall and her skirt ripped off. (1)

None of this is new info--it's just a compilation of what we already know. I tried to include two sources for each and note any differences in wording.
I also thought we should leave papertrail's info in for now. Hopefully he or she will be back with sources. Those articles are bound to have different information--I would love to see them.

If I made any mistakes or left something out that others think should be included (like Julie Cutler), please copy the above info, add the new details and repost or let me know and I will do it.

There are a few other rapes I've heard mentioned, but those references are so obscure I did not include them. I was hoping papertrail could confirm...?

There's a bit of a come down after tht flurry of information, particularly the information released by the media. Are we again going to slide back into the holding pattern? A stagnant state where it feels the case it at a dead end.

Has this been a ploy to keep an inquest at bay? Or do they know who it is but just can't get that smoking gun?

Papertrail brought to the fore a whole lot of legacy articles that haven't been seen in recent years. In subsequent media reports details such as description of Karrakatta, decription of his car, description of the blond man etc have been omitted. One can only think the information was either wrong to begin with or police were wary of the public becoming tunnel visioned. More resent news articles say the victim never saw Karrakatta or his vehicle but only assumed it was a van.

The Swanbourne train station rapes. Does anyone have articles about this? Apparently the rapist was able to subdue two girls at once. This is very much circumstantial but there was a judo club across the road at the Swanbourne Police and Citizens (this is not a police station but Police and Citizen places were spaces set up in the community for gyms and martial arts etc. I think they were council run).

Also, just adding on to Bart's comment about occurrences that need some validation, I read a comment
1. About a woman attacked at Coles loading dock, and
2. About a woman attacked on Davies Rd on the other side if the railway station.

Idk if these are included in the above compilation (just with different names, a local might be able to say, yeah those are the same place, etc.) I am going to try to find the poster and see if they know more.

I've never heard of the Coles Loading dock attack. Before Claremont Quarter there was a shopping centre between Gugeri St and St Quentins Ave and Bayview Tce. It was sort of a T shape with the bottom of the T being the entrance on Bayview Tce. I don't recall specifically but the loading dock was most likely just of Gugeri St in the above ground car park (about 70m down from Conti). Strange place for an attack because until 12:30am every Thurs, Fri and Sat nights that car park was reasonably busy. There would have been a risk someone could have walked around the corner at any time. Ditto the car park at the back of Club Bay View. That place is very busy. It's right next to Hungry Jack's drive through, it's full of cars, often people are milling about and it's a pedestrian thoroughfare.

These are different locations but maybe journalism on one of them is incorrect and they are the same attack?


Not sure about the Davies Rs attack. I am aware of two: the golf course attack, Not even sure if was on Davies Rd. And the subway attack - this would be where Graylands Rd meets the subway. A very brazen attack. Something Dixie would do. Image driving to the subway and seeing a car just sopped in the middle of the road. There's a good chance you'd investigate or call police. Very risky attack.

What are the Nedlands rapes? Are these the UWA ones? Has anyone got anything confirmed because all we have is the word off some random on the internet who was saying some pretty crazy stuff.

The loading bay attack you will find is the vicious sexual assault attack on the girl in Church Lane on 3 March 1996 (I detailed this attack the other day) her skirt ripped off, head slammed against wall 6 times; between Sarah and Jane. What is very interesting to note about the Church Lane attack is it too occurred at 2am in the morning 37 days after Sarah's disappearance. Pretty much the time that Sarah disappeared.

the subway attack could be classified as a true blitz attack. It would have been dark under the subway. She was waiting at a stop sign.

These attacks - the Davies Road rape, the subway and even the Swanbourne attacks are pretty close the Graylands Hospital. Anyone know what time staff turned over on night shift?

Can you provide information on the Swanbourne Police and Citizens club? Was it operating during the relevant period dates? The Swanbourne rapes occurred around midnight 1993/1994 (press said new years day) so likely to be 1 January 1994 which would have been a public holiday. Any events happening at the Club that night? Are you able to provide a google earth or other map showing location?

It was definitely along this row of shops, upstairs. That building is only half familiar. The stairs going up look the same but the jagged facade looks different. When I look at the building up close it looks like the old building has been renovated.

They used at have judo there. I recall going there once to volunteer putting show bags together for the Royal Show.

I doubt there is a link between the judo centre and those rapes but you never know.

New to posting but have been following for a while... the new info peaked my interest a bit. I know of a man who was in his 20s, mechanical knowledge, access to a PV, surfed around cotto. He was charismatic. I dont think his hair was long during the CSK period though. A handsome young man charms the girls and gets a taxi with them? Surely someone/taxi driver would have seen the girls with him?

Unfortunately I didnt know this guy personally. He died in early 2000's. Could explain why they're seeking familial DNA and not getting it from the POI himself?

I've heard posters say that, according to police, the girls were killed nearby, shortly after they were abducted. I guess they were then transported to the disposal sites.

Does anyone think they were taken to the killer's home? Would it be possible they were killed in the cemetery? Just wondering if Karrakatta Cemetery was somewhere the CSK felt comfortable.

Or do y'all think this info is wrong and they were killed close to the disposal sites?

I have now returned to the proposition I detailed the other day where I considered Jane did not join her friends in the taxi due to the passenger number restrictions of 4; 3 in the back seat and 1 in front passenger seat. the article states JR was with her FOUR friends outside the Conti. Makes me wonder why on earth WA Police decided to use only 3 friends in the CIA doc because that stopped people considering this. See 4th para on left side of article

Debi Marshall detailed in her book how caring Jane was with her friends after the disappearance of Sarah Spiers. In that Jane used to ensure her friends got home safely and was known to pay for her friends' taxi fares as well.

Det Inspector Ferguson is attributed with this particular media release detail and he was a stickler for detail.

I haven`t heard anything about any Uni attacks except at Murdoch Uni. They went on for years but he attacked a woman in the Southern carpark at the Casino & some guys pinned him down till cops arrived. They linked him to the Murdoch attacks from his dna. Now Re Davies Rd, Princess rd, Coles Loading dock & Church Lane attacks; well ages ago I posted that they might be linked when it was mentioned in the newspapers.

I think the kills sites were close to the dump sites for a number of reasons;

1. The throats were cut which means a lot of blood. Unlikely to have been done inside the vehicle Too much mess and too hard to clean.
2. Also unlikely to have been done at a home - too much blood to clean. Possibly a risk with neighbours seeing him move the body in and out. Also risk of screaming. He could have had a garage and done a Dexter like plastic lining job but my gut feel is open air.
3. Even if he did do it local there would be blood everywhere and he'd have to transport the bodies in his car that would be losing blood. Maybe plastic lined boot.
4. Police would have searched everywhere for the kills site within maybe a 5km diameter. The cemetery, 5x golf courses, parks etc. There would have been a lot of blood and this should have been stumbled across. Maybe in sand such as Swanbourne Beach or tracks at Bold Park it would be easily to cover up the blood.

But if the kill site was near the dump site, how did he restrain the girls en route?

Here is the article that details the 2 rapes near Swanbourne Railway Station in 1992; importantly it also details about 6 sexual assaults or rapes in the area since 1992 and I believe the 2 Swanbourne rapes are included in this number.

Why were these rapes and vicious sexual assaults swept under the carpet by WA Police? If there had been some warning put out to women after the 1992 rapes the future horrendous outcomes may have been totally different and history would not be tarnished by these unforgettably horrendous crimes now permanently implanted into the memory of all West Australians.
