FBI Searching River Raisin For Girl

Acting off a tip, the FBI searched the River Raisin in Raisinville Township Thursday for a missing 5-year-old Monroe girl.

Sky 4 was over the scene at near Ida Maybee and Dixon roads as agents were seen combing the area.

The new area of searching comes on the same day as a man previously identified by police as a person of interest in the disappearance of the girl, Neveah Buchanan, said he is innocent and doesn't know where she is.

He said after his friend Jennifer Buchanan told him her daughter was missing he drove with his girlfriend, Savannah Gray, to Nevaeh's preschool and continued to search other areas.

"We went to certain areas that I thought she could be," Kennedy said.

This is not sounding good at all from listening to the scanner. Lot's of chatter about the Raisin River. Hearing a possible body was found....not confirmed yet or not! :(

A body has been located off Ida Maybee Rd. Police investigators are on the scene. Tune to WDIV for updates. :cry:

According to reports, there is extremely tight security. The news media have been ordered to stay at least two miles away from where the road blocks have been staged. News helicopters will be ordered to clear the air space.

Police cordoned off an area near North Raisinville Thursday afternoon in an apparent development in the search for Nevaeh Buchanan, the 5-year Monroe girl missing since May 24.

Monroe County Sheriff's Department investigators, assisted by the FBI, were searching an area around the River Raisin between Monroe and Dundee, sheriff's department officials confirmed. Evidence experts were preparing late Thursday to examine something that searchers found near Dixon and Ida-Maybee roads, officials confirmed.

Sheriff's department and FBI officials would not confirm they had found the child's body. No positive identification of the body had been made by early Thursday evening.

Nevaeh's uncle, Michael Buchanan, told The Detroit News: "The police just informed us, 'If you hear something from us again, it'll be positive,' (meaning there's a body)."

If the body is the missing child, it will mark a tragic end to the search in an investigation that has focused, in part, on friends of the girl's mother who have criminal records for sexual offenses. Nobody has been charged in the case.

Family members of missing Nevaeh Buchanan say they believe the body found by investigators west of Monroe today is that of the 5-year-old girl.

"I'm very, very sad," Shaun Lawson, Nevaeh's uncle, told a crowd of about 200 people gathered Thursday outside of the Charlotte Arms Apartments, where the girl went missing May 24. "It took Nevaeh's life to bring everyone together. ... (Authorities) are waiting for actual confirmation, but (the body) does match Nevaeh's description."

Some supporters cried during the impromptu gathering, clutching their children in flickering candlelight as they tried to grasp the loss.

Family friend Mary Millsaps was at the apartment of Jennifer Buchanan, the girl's mother, when county sheriff's deputies arrived about 8:30 p.m. with the grim update.

"There is unbelievable pain going on in the apartment," Millsaps said, declining to comment on what was said. "That officer got a few words out of his mouth and...screams, just ungodly screams..."

Evidence experts were preparing late Thursday to examine a body that searchers discovered had clothing similar to what Nevaeh, or heaven spelled backward, was wearing when she disappeared from the parking lot of her Monroe home, a person familiar with the investigation said.

"I had high hopes she's alive," said Rev. Dale Hayford of Crosswalk Community Church in Monroe, who had organized volunteers to search for Nevaeh. "Wherever she's gone now, she's free now. There is no suffering for her right now. ... Most likely, 99.99 percent, this is her because of the clothing, because of the description."

Investigators will not reveal if the body is that of an adult or a child, or release any other identifying factors.

The Monroe Evening News says police officers have spoken to the family, and a relative has told the paper that the child found earlier Thursday was Nevaeh Buchanan.

Police could not immediately confirm the discovery Thursday night.

An area near the river in Raisinville Township, about 35 miles south-southwest of Detroit, was cordoned off as police conducted their investigation Thursday night.
Around 8:45 p.m. the Monroe County Medical Examiner showed up at the search area.

Nevaeh Buchanan was last was seen May 24 in the parking lot of her apartment complex in nearby Monroe.

There have been no arrests in the case.

Authorities tell NBC24 that they will have a press conference Thursday morning at 10:30 for an update on the investigation.

NG is saying that she was found incased in a cement block....that 2 men were back there to fish & smelled something from the cement...broke it & saw flesh. It was in the water where they found the cement block. It didn't sink & that is how they found her. It sure is pointing to GK who just today claimed he cut himself fishing the week she went missing. :(

They found her at 11AM this morning the men who found the cement block incased with a body...of a child with long brown hair...clothes matching her description.

This just is breaking my heart. :cry:

So so sad.... Why oh why must we put up with these sickos!! Can't we put them down like rabid animals??? Starting with Nevaeh's murderer and backtracking is allowed.

We have breaking news from Monroe County. We're told investigators have found a body and it's very likely that of five-year-old Nevaeh Buchanan. Investigators have been collecting evidence for several hours from the banks of the River Raisin. Officers were also seen going into her home, and the family's pastor says it's almost certainly her.

Nevaeh Buchanan disappeared ten days ago from her Monroe apartment complex. Again, a body has been found and we're awaiting confirmation.

Angel, I'm reading your post after post and as I scroll down I hear about the body and was afraid to keep reading...I knew...this is so sad.

I was working on this chart & one in post above shortly before the news came out that a child's body had been found.

I am still trying to recover from 'MERCURY conjunct ADMETOS' in light of the child's body being found encased in cement.

R.I.P., sweet little angel.

I know Soulscape! I just read your post and we were editing at the same time.I had just gone back to snip that "cement or marble" and you mentioned it....it amazed me too. That is extremely accurate although I realized that the way in which we can interpret a detail can vary...how could we see "cement" and think that she was between two blocks! You have taught me that astrological facts requires creativity and logic in the mix.

Nevaeh....rest in peace in heaven.
 
SS I appreciate you taking the time to post your charts....I can't imagine how hard it is for you & the other astrolgers to do when you see such sadness & death in your charts.

My local Channel 2 is confirming that it is Nevaeh that was found. The block had a chip in it & saw the flesh sticking out of the cement. They used quick cement & both POI were known to fish in this area.

When clips become available I will post. When the family was notified they could hear screams. The clothes match & that is why they know it is her forsure.

The news also reported that GW claims he was fishing with another woman at the time JB called him to tell him she was missing. :(
(Added info from my local news: That both GW & the other guy who is a POI were both known to go fishing in this area.)

Unbelievable - all of you who saw this from the stars. The more I read in this forum the more in awe I am.

Heartbroken, yes, but in awe nonetheless. Thank you for your skills and thank God at least she was found. RIP sweet Nevaeh.
