Cases from 1990-1999

It's unintentional Ikoihil. I'm still filling in names as I find them or as you guys post them. But y'all are fast! And my time is really limited. I'll catch up with ya soon though. ;). I thought the spreadsheet would be a good tool because I can sort by date, county, etc. I have to break it up to post here. Otherwise the file is too large to upload.

Missing Woman: Tara Suzette Breckenridge--TX--08/04/1992
Gender: Female
DOB: 9/30/68
Height: 5’5”
Weight: 115-120 lbs.
Eyes:Brown
Hair: Brown
The Doe Network: Case File 603DFTX
Defining Characteristics: Has a small scar under the left side of her lower lip, a scar under her left arm, and a scar on her left side. She was known to keep her fingernails long and painted red. She wears contacts or glasses.
Clothing: She was wearing blue shorts, a light-colored top and sandals.
Jewelry: A Del Rio High School ring engraved with Class of 1981
Dentals: Her two upper front teeth are discolored in the middle.

The Men's Club in Houston, is an upscale adult night spot. Tara Breckenridge waited tables there from 1989 to 1992. Tara grew up in Del Rio, TX, and was the third of five children in a devoutly religious family. After high school, she arrived in Houston to pursue a career in photography. It wasn't long before the cost of big city living forced her to find another job. As a waitress at The Men's Club, Tara found the cash she needed.

In 1992, she vanished without a trace. The police and her parents believed Tara was murdered. And high on the list of possible suspects was Tara's boyfriend at the time, a young man named Wayne Hecker. Wayne and Tara had met two years after Tara arrived in Houston. Even though Tara never danced at The Men's Club, Wayne was less than thrilled with her job. Despite Wayne's concerns, he and Tara moved in together. At first, they seemed happy. But according to Tara's mother, Betty, the romance did not last.

Tara's job at The Men's Club distracted her from the problems with Wayne. But on the night of August 3, 1992, Tara did something that remains unexplained. It was a slow night and the management decided to send two waitresses home early. When the manager asked for volunteers to end their shift early, Tara volunteered to leave. According to Hal Naumann, the former manager of The Men's Club, it was strangely out of character, since she would usually stay until 2am, to make as much tip money as possible.

The security guard at the club told police that he walked Tara to her car and that she drove off without incident. Wayne Hecker later told the police that, at the moment Tara was leaving The Men's Club, he was in a pool hall fifteen minutes away. Wayne said he called Tara earlier that evening, but never spoke to her:
"I didn't really think anything at that time and they told me that she was on the floor. I probably got home around five and I expected to see Tara either lying on the sofa or in bed and she wasn't there. So at that point... I went to find her."

At 7:00 the next morning, Wayne found Tara's car abandoned on a busy freeway. According to Wayne, the car was locked and a can of mace was inside and the car's flashers weren't on.
mis_tara_breckenridge6.jpg

Police feared that Tara was a victim of foul play. It wasn't long before suspicion began to center on Wayne Hecker. Sergeant Brad Rudolph of the Houston Police Department, interrogated Wayne and was especially curious about his activities the night Tara disappeared:
"We have employees of the club that indicated that he left the club at approximately midnight and was next seen at approximately 1:45 in the morning."

The pool hall is located fifteen minutes from The Men's Club. Tara's car was found about three miles from the club. According to witnesses, Wayne was gone from the pool hall for a full hour and forty-five minutes. But with no concrete evidence of foul play, Tara was officially listed as missing.

When police obtained a series of love notes indicating there was another man in Tara's life, they thought there might be a break in the case. According to co-workers at the club, Tara's admirer was a frequent visitor who lavished her with hundred dollar tips. He apparently had intimate knowledge of her difficulties with Wayne. But according to Sergeant Rudolph, the notes seemed to indicate that Tara rejected the man's advances:
"There was nothing threatening in those notes. We interviewed the individual. Our opinion at this point is he was just an individual that had an attraction toward Tara and nothing more."

Bessie, this is great. A lot of work. Thanks so much for doing this! You're right, we're adding daily....Ikoihil is anyway. She's doing a great job too!

Hope you don't mind, I added a Killing Fields UID Thread. It's a NO DISCUSSION THREAD. Just for referrence. Trying to get them all in there for folks to go to one place for the Unidentified Victims. Hopefully, some of our Great Sleuthers will be able to make matches and send some of these victims home.

Maybe you could edit my first post and give some direction to anyone who thinks they might have a match. "Please"....pretty please.

It would be great to send them all back to their families....... Hey, I'm an optimistic dreamer.........

Thanks so much for all your help and for caring as much about these victims as we do! We appreciate you so much!

Can you tell me if you know much about this case.
I am trying to determined if i read about a missing girl whom had a ring on every finger and a unicorn...Or was a reading a description about princess blue somewhere...I know I read that somewhere tonight while searching ONline from the 80s i believe it was.
I just don't recollect where now.

Perhaps I am getting confused in the killing fields.
And i should go to bed now and sleep on it.
Thanks again for the new thread on UID.

I have read so many missing, located, and UID's and like you I keep running across things that I'm sure I have read previously. I have thought about doing a items (clothing, jewelry, scars, etc) list on victims and one on UID's. If you have any ideas on this please feel free to speak up. Anything that simplifies the process.....

It gets confusing! Maybe I can do that when I finish the UID Listings.

Hey Jeannie,

I think the idea about what was missing/found on UIDs (jewelry, clothes, etc) is a good one - from now on, when I'm posting these profiles, I'll highlight that in red so it's easier to find, rather than dredging all the info for it. Maybe an additional column could go in the spreadsheet made by Bessie? I don't know about having several sources of information, since it will be confusing to just about everyone but us... Let me know what y'all think.

Now, in regard to the UID thread... I have questions. Okay, should I replicate the information in both places (like if a victim is found in Montgomery County, should I post it in "Montgomery Co - North Killing Fields" and also place the same one in the UID thread?) Since the UID thread is no discussion, it should be in both the UID thread and the regional thread, right? Correct me if I'm wrong... Just trying to figure out how best to move forward.

Thanks

ikoihil

Jennifer Lynn Coibion
Missing since May 22, 1994 from Houston, Harris County, Texas.
Classification: Endangered Missing

* Date Of Birth: May 14, 1974
* Age at Time of Disappearance: 20 years old
* Height and Weight at Time of Disappearance: 5'9"; 115 lbs.
* Distinguishing Characteristics: White female. Blonde hair; blue eyes. She wears contacts and seldom wears glasses.
* Clothing: White shorts and a white shirt.
* Dentals: Available
* Other: Addicted to crack cocaine.

Coibion was last seen at the 9200 block of Interstate 45 on the service road near Mount Houston Road, in Houston on May 22, 1994.
She was seen at about 02.00 getting into a yellow station wagon after an argument with her boyfriend. Jennifer bolted from the confrontation to seek refuge in a yellow station wagon driven by a strange man. As the vehicle sped away, her boyfriend copied its license plate number and called police.

When Coibion was a senior in high school, she became addicted to crack cocaine. For about 18 months, Jennifer's disappearance was treated solely as a missing-person case. By the time the yellow station wagon was located at a wrecker storage lot, it had been purchased by another individual and thoroughly cleaned. There were no blood stains, no indication a crime might have occurred in it.

Police suspect foul play.

Yes, the UID should be in both. Anyone wanting to find only the UID info for matching purposes can use the UID thread for reference purposes.

It eliminates having to go through all the threads by year when you search for a UID. Since we don't always know what "year" the UID went missing having them in one place might make it easier for everyone to do lookups.

Make sense?

I remember commenting on amber's case in cold cases. Before i knew anything or very little about the killing fields or Amber herself. When i seen this posted just now it kinda shocked me. To think she may had been murdered by one of the serial killers. It never dawn on me to look for a connection to other children whom may-have met a similar fate as Amber.

I would like to post what i believe may be victims killed by the same person/persons based upon physical similarities only without any details but will provide a link to where the photo came from and includes the details that I did-not include. You and the other moderators here can alter, delete move or do whatever you like with them at your discretion at anytime.
Would that be OK to do?

You and ikoihil and the others are doing phenomenal work in putting this
together. Its hard for me to explain what i mean by that, but your making things more calm and orderly and not so vast and confusing where one would be lost without your help.

Your visual aids, such as old newspaper articles from the time the crimes occurred are absolutely priceless.

Please feel free to post anything you find. We all benefit from everyone's posts!

AAbbrederis.jpg

Name: Angela Abbrederis
AKA: Angela Kim Marie Abbrederis, Nagela Kimmarie Ng, Mei Ling, Audra Abbrederis, and/or Vanessa Abbrederis.
Case Number: M9610009
Case Type: Endangered - Foul Play Possible
Last Seen in: Dallas (Dallas County)
Last Seen on: 4/2/1996
Height: 5' 8 "
Weight: 115-120 lbs.
Age Missing: 27
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Color: Brown
Date of Birth: 10/25/1968
Race: White/Asian - although she is listed as White/Hispanic on some sites
Sex: Female
State Missing From: Texas
Country Missing From: USA

Circumstances: Angela has a tattoo of a butterfly on her right hip, a scar on her hip and has had breast augmentation. She was known to work in various men's clubs as a dancer. The day of her disappearance she didn't take her vehicle or any clothing. Her dog was also left behind in her apartment. Dental and x-rays are available.

Abbrederis was last seen in Dallas, Texas on April 2, 1996. She left her vehicle behind and did not take any of her personal belongings from her residence, including her clothes, luggage and car keys. Abbrederis also left her dog unattended inside her apartment. There was laundry left in the washing machine and piled on the bed, which Abbrederis's mother says is uncharacteristic of her daughter. There were also what appeared to be bloody fingerprints near the front door, but the "blood" turned out to be paint. Abbrederis has never been heard from again.

Abbrederis' boyfriend emptied their joint checking account after her disappearance, signed one of her cars over to himself, and withdrew money from her savings account. He told police that he jointly owned all of what he took. Investigators say the boyfriend's actions do not necessarily mean he was involved in Abbrederis's disappearance.

Abbrederis worked in various Dallas clubs as an exotic dancer at the time of her 1996 disappearance. She also has a history of prostitution. Her mother believes she was the victim of foul play. Abbrederis has family members living in Michigan and Hong Kong. She is an Army veteran. Her case remains unsolved.

Unidentified Asian Female

The victim was discovered on June 11, 1998 in Conroe, Montgomery County, Texas.
Estimated Date of Death: 3 years or greater
State of Remains: Partial Skeletal Remains
Cause of Death: Unknown

Vital Statistics

Estimated age: 20-33 years old.
Approximate Height and Weight: Unknown.
Distinguishing Characteristics: Unknown.
Clothing: Blue or black ball cap with a "Lone Star Feed" logo. Tan cloth was also found with the remains.
Dentals: Unknown. Some teeth had been glued into place.
DNA: Sample submitted.
Fingerprints: Not available.

Case History
On June 11, 1998, a man was walking in a wooded area behind his home in the 600 block of Airline Drive when he observed what appeared to be the top portion of a skull protruding from the ground.

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office deputies investigated and recovered additional skeletal remains. The additional bones were determined not to be of human origin.

What appears to be a mounting hole was drilled into the cranium. The remains resemble other skulls that have been determined to be skull war trophies collected during Asian military action.

The remains were originally believed to be those of a male, however, DNA analysis in September 2010, has confirmed that they are those of a female.

The location and age of the victim and the UID are appropriate... I've been looking for an Asian Doe with breast implants (as for a match to Abbrederis), but this works because only the skull was recovered.

Also, Abbrederis' facial bone structure/jawline is a bit square, which might explain why they were under the impression Doe was an Asian male for a while.

LE estimates that Doe was deceased for 3+ years, but I question that because if there was a hole drilled/bored into the skull for mounting purposes, it was probably cleaned and prepared for such (like a hunter with a trophy mount?), thus leaving little to no residual soft tissue in the skull or on the bone.

Please provide feedback if you have any.

Mods, if you need to make this a sticky thread, feel free. Do whatcha need to do. I'm still new here, and am just good at digging for information and posting it. I am still unfamiliar with all your protocol and procedure, so please forgive me if my amateur is showing. :blushing:

TEXAS CITY — The mother of a girl found slain under a Chambers County bridge in 1996 said Friday a suspect’s arrest and murder charge in the cold case was a miracle.

Kevin Edison Smith, 45, of Louisiana, was arrested Wednesday at his refinery job in Groves on a Chambers County Sheriff’s Office warrant, charging him with murder in the killing of Krystal Jean Baker, Texas City Police Chief Robert Burby said.

DNA gathered from the case and processed through the Texas Department of Public Safety led to an arrest, Burby said.

She said, "I wish I could wake up out of this nightmare and hold my little girl in my arms."
Adding to her grief was the fact that her daughter's killer was never brought to justice. On the run all these years -- until now. DNA evidence led authorities to arrest 45-year-old Kevin Edison Smith of Louisiana. He was taken into custody at a job site in Chambers County where he'd been working as a welder.
