The following statement has been released by Charlene Shunick, the sister of Mickey Shunick:

"In response to the recent rumors about a gathering in front of the Lafayette courthouse or another public location on July 18th, the day of the grand jury hearing for Brandon Lavergne, we with the Find Mickey Now search effort would like to discourage any individuals or groups from participating or hosting any such activity. We also want to make it clear that neither Mickey Shunick's family nor any of the volunteers in the search effort are endorsing any activity planned or statement made by any individuals or organizations in regards to these rumors, nor will any of us be attending any such events or gatherings."

Craft said investigators were also able to place Lavergne in and around the Whiskey Bay Bridge where Mickey’s bicycle was found on May 26. He said damage to the rear wheel of the bike was consistent with having been struck by a vehicle.

According to a spokesperson from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, cameras mounted high in the median at the Whiskey Bay exit are part of a statewide network of traffic cameras monitored in real time by DOTD employees to spot traffic jams on the long stretches of elevated roadway common in this state.
