Tracked for more than 2460 days, Naden was walking towards Moppy Valley when he was captured on film by a secret police surveillance "bush cam."

Wanted in connection with the brutal killings of Dubbo mother Kristy Scholes and his cousin Lateesha Nolan, the eerie images caught Naden as he tramped alone in bushland, about 60 kilometres from where he was arrested near Gloucester.

'A search has resumed for the remains of murder victim Lateesha Nolan after DNA tests confirmed a bone found last month at Dubbo in New South Wales belonged to her.

Key points:

  • Lateesha Nolan disappeared in 2005
  • Ms Nolan's cousin Malcolm Naden was convicted of her murder in 2012 and sentenced to life imprisonment
  • The bone was found by a member of the public in November 2016
Homicide Squad Commander Detective Superintendent Mick Willing said a passer-by found a femur or leg bone, on November 25.

"It is a recreational area south of Dubbo that is frequented by many people. They were walking along and came across the bone," he said.

It was looked at by a forensic pathologist and an anthropologist, who said it belonged to a human.

A DNA test later confirmed the bone belonged to Ms Nolan.'

'The search, near the original site at a riverbank near Butlers Falls, is expected to take a number of days.'

'Police say it is likely that a bone and bone fragments found in a search in central west New South Wales are those of murdered woman Lateesha Nolan.

Police called off the two-day search after making the discovery on Wednesday afternoon, at a riverbank near Dubbo where a femur bone of Ms Nolan's has already been found.'

'The bone and bone fragments will now be sent away to be tested by a forensic pathologist and anthropologist to find out whether they are human.

They will then undergo DNA testing to determine if they belong to Ms Nolan.

A police spokesperson said the results should be known in one to three weeks.

The search resumed yesterday, after DNA tests confirmed a bone found by a passer-by last month belonged to Ms Nolan.

An excavation search for her body began in 2012 at Dubbo after Naden was convicted of her murder.'

'A police search in the state’s Central West for the remains of Lateesha Nolan has concluded.

The search for further remains commenced yesterday (Tuesday 6 December 2016), after DNA confirmed a bone located on a riverbank south of Dubbo belonged to 24-year-old mother, Lateesha Nolan, who disappeared in 2005.

Over the past two days, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad’s Strike Force Durkin, with the assistance of police from Orana Local Area Command, Western Region Operations Support Group, Forensic Services Group and Volunteer Rescue Association; searched an area near Butlers Falls for further remains.

Following the conclusion of the search today (Wednesday 7 December 2016), detectives have confirmed they have found numerous items, which are believed to be bones and bone fragments.

These will be taken for examination by a forensic pathologist and an anthropologist, which will be followed by further analysis, including DNA testing.'
