Women's lacrosse club plays for missing student Spierer
Lauren Spierer was chosen to play for her high school varsity lacrosse team as a freshman, but she had to quit when she was diagnosed with a heart condition.
When she went missing, the players on the IU women’s lacrosse club said they felt a connection to the female IU student with a passion for the sport they play, and they knew they had to get involved.

Lauren Spierer investigators seek clues from Illinois body
Bloomington police investigating the 2011 disappearance of an Indiana University student are awaiting DNA test results of skeletal remains found in a remote area in eastern Illinois.
Later this month, the results from the Illinois State Crime Lab will determine if the remains are those of Lauren Spierer. Capt. Joe Qualters of Bloomington police said the body was found in mid-March in Newton, Ill., about a hundred miles west of Bloomington.
This is the latest in a still-ongoing search for Spierer, 20, who disappeared June 3, 2011 after a night out with friends.

Coroner: Remains aren't Edgemont's Lauren Spierer
An Illinois coroner has confirmed that the skeletal remains found in an eastern Illinois town are not those of missing Edgemont High School graduate Lauren Spierer.

"The forensic anthropologist determined the remains to be those of a man," according to Jasper County, Ill., Coroner Jason Meyer.

The body was found in Newton, Ill., on March 10, slightly more than nine months after Spierer went missing in Bloomington, Ind., where she is a student at Indiana University.

Police are investigating whether any link might exist between the June disappearance of Indiana University student Lauren Spierer and a New Albany man recently arrested in connection with the deaths of three other women.

It's been nearly one year since Spierer disappeared. Despite all that time, police still don't know what happened to her.

Tooth may help parents get speedier answer about Indiana skull
Lauren Spierer’s parents may learn within a matter of days whether a human skull found July 8 is that of their missing daughter, the Marion County, Ind., Coroner’s Office told The Journal News.
It would typically take eight weeks to get test results on a human skull, but forensic experts are extracting a tooth from the skull that will be cross-referenced with dental records for Spierer that are already on file, Deputy Coroner Alfarena Ballew said.
