Hocking County Prosecutor Laina Fetherolf says a plea deal with Sandra Inman was dropped because she didn't give specifics of the crimes and reneged on a promise to plead guilty to the initial kidnapping charge.

She originally pleaded not guilty to the kidnapping and abduction charges, then changed her plea to not guilty by reason of insanity in April. She also pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to the additional charges.

Prosecution: Inman strangled estranged wife
William A. “Will” Inman II was face to face with his estranged wife when he strangled her with a zip tie cinched so tightly that it cut into her neck, the Hocking County prosecutor told jurors today in opening statements in his murder trial.

“William A. Inman II pulled that tie and he watched her face as she struggled and died,” Prosecutor Laina Fetherolf told the jury.

Then, Fetherolf said, he imposed the final indignity by dumping her body into an underground septic tank on the grounds of a church, her purse still on her arm.

Inman’s defense lawyers deferred making an opening statement until “a later time,” they told Common Pleas Judge John T. Wallace.
