" *advertiser censored* actor Luka Rocco Magnotta, 29, is being sought on a Canada-wide warrant after a dismembered torso was found in a suitcase in Montreal and body parts mailed to Ottawa."

Magnotta has been linked in the past as having had a romantic involvement with schoolgirl sex killer Homolka

I wonder if this suspect spent time in L.A.at the time of this horrible crime.

Police allege Luka Rocco Magnotta, 29, a man with a controversial past, is behind the grisly crime. He is also known by the names Eric Clinton Newman and Vladimir Romanov.

Magnotta is not known to the police, but the name is well-circulated on the Internet as belonging to a bisexual model and *advertiser censored* star, allegedly appearing in kitten killing videos posted on YouTube.

FBI allegedly started investigating this a few days ago.

The murder-decapitation of a 66-year old man whose head was found beneath the Hollywood Sign four months ago is now a Federal case, the MadCow Morning News has learned. The development is a sure sign that the LAPD’s theory about a gay love triangle gone wrong is no longer being pursued. A more plausible reason for the beheading emerged in an angle that was barely reported at the time: Medellin went missing after leaving on a “business trip” to Tijuana.

Last week the Mad Cow MorningNews reported exclusively that the decapitated head found in a plastic bag on a hiking trail in the shadow of the Hollywood Sign four months ago belonged to a man known to local authorities as the former "concierge" in Los Angeles for the now-defunct Cali drug cartel.
Drug related? There was a big Colombian cartel called the Medellin Cartel in the 90s, but that's because they were based out of Medellín, Colombia. Coincidence I think. However, one of their main rivals was the Cali cartel mentioned in the article.

"In addition to the YouTube activity and the obvious similarities in the methodology of the Jun killing and the Hollywood Sign murder, which both involved severed body parts placed in prominent locations, Facebook postings on one of the many accounts attributed to Mr. Magnotta indicate he was in Los Angeles less than one month after the Hollywood Sign killing. In the postings, which were dated February 19, the Facebook user who identifies themselves as Mr. Magnotta tries to arrange a meeting with a friend and informs them he is “doing massages” in Los Angeles. He lists a phone number that traces to an L.A. escort agency as the best way to contact him".

I was in the bookstore this afternoon and picked up a book about bizarre murderers. Murdering, dismembering, mailing body parts through the mail is not new ... it might be a case of man murder's gay lovers because he can't cope with being gay ... in the UK the sentence was reduced to 9 years because the accused was delusional about his potential relationship with the female victim and good behavior. In this case, we have a copy cat murder scenario with the only difference being that the accused created a false, online representation of who he is. Given how cocky Eric Newman is, I suspect that he has murdered before and given that he was in LA around the time of the Hollywood Sign murder, I think there's a good possibility that he was involved. I read upthread that the Arizona murder was determined to not be connected with the LA murder. Has that possible connection been re-examined in light of the Montreal murder?

"The Los Angeles Police Department has contacted Montreal police in regards to a possible connection between accused-killer Luka Magnotta and an unsolved January murder in L.A.

Montreal police confirmed Thursday that detectives from L.A. have been in touch, probing whether Magnotta may have been involved in the gruesome murder of a 66-year-old man in Hollywood"

“Any time you’re investigating something, you see something similar, of course you’re going to be in contact,” said Borihanh. “You try and share information as much as you can.

“Our investigators are in contact with Canadian investigators and they’re just trying to determine Magnotta’s whereabouts during our investigation of the Hollywood Hills murder and that’s it.”

In January, a head in a plastic shopping bag was found by a man walking his dog in a Los Angeles park near the fabled Hollywood sign. The victim was identified as Hervey Medellin, a 66-year-old retired employee of Mexicana Airlines.

His hands and feet were found later in a nearby shallow hole in the ground. Police made it clear they are not yet linking Magnotta’s case and the murder in L.A. They simply want to know whether Magnotta was there during the crime

So if luka M had nothing to do with Hervey M's murder, who is responsible?

An arrest has been made in this case.

Los Angeles police said Monday a suspect in Texas has been arrested in connection with the murder of a man whose body parts--including a head--were found scattered across Griffith Park in 2012.

Gabriel Campos Martinez, 38 -- described in an LAPD statement as "the suspect responsible" for the murder of Hervey Medellin -- was arrested Sunday in San Antonio. Martinez was the victim's roommate and partner, law enforcement sources said.

He was being held without bail Monday pending extradition proceedings.

"According to LA magazine , Martinez and Medellin were lovers and living together at the time of the murder. Martinez allegedly fled California after taking a police lie detector.

Police have said they believe the victim was killed elsewhere and his remains dumped just inside the park, which attracts hundreds of hikers and dog walkers on most days.

Although rustic, it is just a short distance from film studios and other Hollywood attractions."

"Speaking to news media at an unrelated press conference Monday morning, LAPD Chief Charlie Beck described Martinez as the “former roommate” of Medellin. Beck called the killing a “particularly grisly homicide” and a “very difficult case.”

Martinez had been a person of interest since the beginning of the investigation, Beck said.

County prosecutors worked with police on the investigation and traveled to San Antonio to assist with the arrest, Beck said.

Check back for updates on this developing story".

Los Angeles (CNN) -- The discovery two years ago of a man's decapitated head near the Hollywood sign began a murder mystery that police now believed is solved.

Gabriel Campos-Martinez, 38, was charged Monday in the death of 66-year-old Hervey Medellin, whose head and several other body parts were found by a woman walking her dog in Hollywood's Griffith Park on January 17, 2012, according to the Los Angeles district attorney....
