I think it's FANTASTIC that you are making this a mission. Great idea hitting the gas stations in the hood, too. I think you'll find this car and it's owner.

In the photo of the overpass where Mickey's bike was found is a paved surface road. What makes you think the perp didn't drive in on that road? he didn't necessarily have to come from I-10. Looking at the map, I see all kinds of roads in there.

I'm not the only one who's seen that Caddy during my daily travels. That means he's out there, and may not even be aware that the police want to know what he may have seen. I'm spreading the word among the blacks because I am convinced that the driver is black, and they are shaken up, too. A local girl is a local girl.

As far as roads... yes.... little ones. He could have come all the way down from Krotz Springs on the levee road (975) on the east of the river. He also could have taken 105 on the west side. What he couldn't have done very easily, without risk, is to stop on I-10 and pitch it over. As said upthread, he could have done it at 3 a.m. But maybe it wasn't 3 a.m. Any other time, he gets a semi up his butt if he stops there.

chicken fried...going by the terrain under the bridge, do you think investigators might have been able to detect tire tracks, footprints?

I was thinking along those lines too. A Z71 is a 4 wheel drive truck, perfectly capable of making the drive up and down from under the bridge and would have certainly left tire tracts.

Considering that I reside two blocks from Mickey's last known location, across from the circle K, and that I have in fact been victim to a Bicycle theft where the theif cut through my chain, I can't rule out the possibility of a bike being stolen within a 2 hr time frame after her disappearance.

But let's assume that whoever took her, also took her bike. They would have either;
A. Traveled to I-10 in attempt to flee the scence, then proceded to drop the bike in a belligernt attempt to get rid of the evidence.

B. Calmly traveled back to a secure location, then got their facts straight from the investigation. After a couple days sadistically drove to drop the bike strategically, where a known serial killer has dropped bodies, in order to treat the cops and FBI as pawns.(Hinting the immediate FBI presence)

Just throwing some situations out there hopefully we find out more tomorrow.

Such an unfortunate confluence of events in Lafayette.... kids partying for graduation, the carnival, with lots of strangers, and then the anime convention.....

I hope I don't offend anyone, but there is a very twisted side to anime, and a certain violent pornographic element. My cousin was into anime and he was an odd duck. If I were to pick between the carnys and the amine folk for a stranger abduction, I pick anime every time.

Hopefully part of the investigation includes checking on hotels where convention was and WHEN cards were used to enter rooms.....who was coming and going during the night/early morning hours.

I am confused by some of the comments by the admin as well. They are accusing media of endangering Mickey, ruining the investigation, making up blatant lies, etc. They are talking about actual legitimate MSM sources too. Is there something I am missing? I feel like the page (at least until recently) was still refuting that it was even her bike found when I believe that is pretty much completely confirmed?

I haven't looked at the FB because I can't seem to get to end of this thread! I don't know why anyone has any respect for the media. Where the heck is that coming from? They might well be causing problems and don't care - as long as they get the story.

So Mickey had finished her semester at school, correct?
I ask this as the perp could be a student that is finished also and is on their way home to another state by now.

Yes, we were all finished by 5-5-12

Ok, I've read Every. Single. Post. on these boards here since this happened and heard many theories but I am still stuck like glue on my initial theory.

I think it's possible the car and the white truck were working in tandem.

I see them both as predator sharks. The pond they're initially swimming in is over there near 100 Ryan Street. Watching. Waiting. It's their home pond and they know it real well. They know there's an especially appealing potential prey that rides a bike many times late at night, with flashing lights on it. Heck, they could have both been parked at that old Langlinais grocery across Congress Street from Ryan when she took off.

I think they (or just one of them) followed her and abducted her. They didn't have to take the exact route; they could have taken Congress up to University knowing they would intersect at some point. No goods, up to no good, at 2 am in the morning, waiting for marks. Local. No nefarious serial killer involved, just really bad actors that live in the area.

Again, I fall back on Occam's Razor. She was in proximity to a really really bad area of town right across Congress Street from Ryan Street. An area where people watch, a lot. Chicken Fried, I'd like your take on this, you know the area.

You speak of Occam's Razor... you are a logician after my own heart.

That is very possible. The Caddy and truck could have been working together.

But... didn't the truck show up making a U-turn, and not the Caddy?

Yes, that area is right on the edge of a bad area. I'm sorry that kids her age don't take that stuff seriously. There has been a serious influx of "thugs" since Katrina. The town has changed.

Isn't there a road that runs under the bridge? Maybe he was traveling that, not I-10

Yes. There are roads all over in there. He could have come from any direction.

With the swamp being in close proximity, couldn't someone have chosen that exit to dump the bike because of the availability of thick fog to use as cover?

Turning in my magnifying glass for the night. Praying for endurance for all.

Good luck with your missions tomorrow, Sleuthers!

I got a question for the "locals" cuz I'm pretty local but not real real local...
Does that road that is in the pictures on the news go all the way through to 190? Anytime I ever went to shurburne we went down 190 and exited right after the bridge in big beautiful krotz springs. So I was wondering since shurburne had been mentioned earlier does that same road go all the way through to where we used to go?

I'm not local and yes, it does.

The truck in question being a Z71 says a lot about where this guy is from to me. Why would somebody who lives in the city pay 50 grand for a 4 door top of the line 4 wheel drive truck? I'm thinking he's from a rural area like Cecilia or Breaux Bridge in which case he would know very well how to take the levee road to that area. Almost all of my friends who pay that much and own a Z71 are avid outdoorsman, fisherman or the truck is work related(farmer).

Occum's razor is indeed in effect here, as they say, wrong place, wrong time. I don't like to walk outside near my house after dar. There could be a two car tandem and the whole thing could be a local.

We must hear from the car, being it is the easiest to identify. They were there at the time it went down. So were the trucks, however many there really were, I can't confidently say they are all different or the same.

Please Note: Scanner chatter stays in the scanner thread. You can link the scanner thread and say something like "go have a look." That's it. Scanner chatter is like Vegas - what happens in the scanner thread stays in the scanner thread.

Thanks!

Salem

So where the hell is this scanner thread? Also, that sounds like a dumb rule. If some new development happens, whether on the scanner, tv, or wherever, post it here.
