I'm trying to find the direct references to FMNF regarding this case and no luck on scnow.com so far but thought I would link this page in case anyone wants to go back and reference any of the previous reports from their site. Will check Carolina Live and Sun News on the FMNF issue.

This one doesn't mention FMNF specifically but refers to the general conditions of the area:
One year ago, scores of police officers and volunteer searchers traipsed through rural parts of Georgetown and Charleston Counties looking for a teen who had vanished in Myrtle Beach.
It was unusually warm, and the bugs were aggressive. Wild boars and alligators lurked just out of sight. The dangers to searchers and their dogs were real. It was no place for a 17-year-old girl to be.

This one is interesting, from May 9,
2009:
On Saturday, there were more than 20 mounted horse teams, multiple ATVs and at least four cadaver dogs scouring
the Santee Coastal Reserve in Charleston County. Myrtle Beach police received a tip that generated significant interest in that area, but again, nothing was found -- and that tip was later discredited by investigators.
May want to revisit that area...going to look it up on the map in relation to their homes. Don't remember hearing about this specific of a
tip in that area this early in the investigation.

Google Maps can't calculate the route I'm assuming because roads don't lead to the reserve area, but see if this map works for you guys, from point A (His address) to B (Santee Coastal Reserve). Not far. Wonder if Shaun owns/has access to a boat? (I'm not great with maps sometimes, so pull out/around to find the points if it doesnt center.)
