TN TN - Tabitha Tuders, 13, Nashville, 29 Apr 2003

THINKING of Tabitha Tuders and another little girl who vanished from that region, Bethany Markowski. What became of these two girls?! So glad people on here still remember them:)

I wish there was more publicly about her I live in the nashville area and it dosent seem like you hear much of this case anymore (sadly) usually only a small news clip on or around the anniversary.. i just wish something would break this case open and her family could either bring her home or at least know what happened to her

What was the last "lead" in this case that was publicly known? How active is this case still?
Here isa news article posted yesterday: http://www.nashvillescene.com/nashv...deserves-andmdash-closure/Content?oid=3385979
Her parents are searching still, and will never give up:
""It's the only place she knows," Debra says firmly. "I had a dream one time, a few years back, that she came around the corner and came up to the door and came in. I was so happy and so emotional. I ran to her and said, 'Boo! Where have you been?' And just as I reached out to hug her, I woke up, crying. Before she could tell me where."

Bo Tuders shakes his head. "All I know is it's 10 years and she's not home," he says. "I know she's 23 now, but I still see her as a 13-year-old girl. If she has passed and they find her remains, we could bring her home and have a place for her to rest, where we could visit. We keep hoping that one day she'll come home. She's out there somewhere. Someone knows something."

Someone does know something. And until that person speaks up, a mother and father will sit in a bereft house on Lillian Street, waiting for a little girl who's 10 years late for home."

This spring it will have been 11 years since Tabitha went missing. I wonder whatever happened to the escort lead, or any of the leads for that matter.
Praying that Tabitha is found soon.

I believe the escort tip was a dead end, but the last I have heard in this case was that an inmate tipped that Tabitha was taken & sold into human trafficking. TN is one of the nation's main hubs for human trafficking, so I can def. see this as a probable scenario.

Snipped:

The detective who recently took over the Tabitha Tuders disappearance is talking about 3 persons of interest in the case. Detective Steve Jolley moved downtown from North Precinct last Summer to take over the Tuders case.

So much for the original red car tip? I really hope something comes out of this!!!!!!

So is the pic of the van the actual van?bir just the style I live right outside of Nashville and I am 110 sure I have seen a van like that one several times in the rivergate area on several times I don't know the driver doubt I could even point him out if I did see him but I remember getting the creeps from him and that van that is the reason I recall it ... For those of you that aren't familiar with Nashville rivergate is like 10-15 mins from the area tabitha went missing from

Haven't seen anything new on this here locally… anyone?

What ever happened to that lead about her possibly being a victim of human trafficking

I believe the escort tip was a dead end, but the last I have heard in this case was that an inmate tipped that Tabitha was taken & sold into human trafficking. TN is one of the nation's main hubs for human trafficking, so I can def. see this as a probable scenario.

I, and several million other people, would love to know where you got that information?

The last 'human trafficking' trial here(Nashville) led to the acquittal of all 7 defendants who the sued the taxpayers for 30 million dollars for false imprisonment(they were not allowed bail-and they were eligible for it) as they spent a year in the tank while the State perused a political pleasing case with no merit.

It was settled by the state for an undisclosed amount.

People here are very touchy about the term 'human trafficking' and how it's thrown around as a solution to all crimes against children.

Nothing new on Tabitha to report except a group is getting together to try and refocus attention on the case. There was talk of doing flyers and photos to distribute during the CMA festival with so many tourist here but after some thought it seemed somewhat inappropriate.

I was not throwing that term around as a solution for all crimes against kids. You are putting words in my mouth because never once was that stated. The human trafficking angle is one that has been looked at for awhile in Tabitha's case. The only reason I brought it up because it was mentioned by an inmate in an article now written a few years ago since that post was made. We have no way of knowing if it is true or not, or if she was a victim of a sick twisted, person who just wanted to take her.

Here is the article about the tip: http://www.examiner.com/article/tn-inmates-believe-tabitha-tuders-trafficked-to-memphis

Human trafficking is the second most profitable criminal enterprise in the black market next to drugs. You can find that fact at #4 in this article:
http://www.live58.org/10-facts-about-human-trafficking-everyone-should-know

The fact it has become so profitable makes it an even greater problem because it gives criminals motives. Any city is very susceptible to this problem. Majority of the girls caught in human trafficking are never reported missing. They get tricked into it for many ways. Sometimes they are sold by someone they love or a boyfriend. Other times they get drugged at a party or simply abducted. Pimps target girls who they feel are broken and have poor interpersonal relationships. They convince the girls to have a new life filled with money and security. These girls do not choose to stay, they have no choice. In a documentary Our America with Lisa Lang, she saw many young girls who were forced into human trafficking, but had no where to go even if they did leave. Shelters for girls in this position receive very low funding. Here are some personal stories of survivors:
http://www.polarisproject.org/what-we-do/client-services/survivor-stories

As for trafficking within TN, I never said it was THE main place, but it does high up with there along with California, Texas, Nevada and New York. In this article, which is where I got this information, it names specific places in TN that are the top areas in the mid-south for sex slavery. An area in Mississippi was also mentioned:
http://www.wmcactionnews5.com/story/16502178/statistics-show-rise-in-human-trafficking-in-tennessee

Wolfchase Galleria, Sam Cooper Boulevard, Lamar Avenue, Memphis International Airport, and Tunica, Mississippi, are among the top areas in the Mid-South for sex slaves.

What should also be mentioned, is because of the rise of human trafficking shown by statistics in TN, six new laws were brought before TN legislators to crack down on this. A major effort has been made in TN, including the Polaris Project.

Human trafficking is a sensitive subject anywhere you go, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't talk about it. Keeping it in the dark is what these criminals who make their money from it want. We need to talk about it, to educate people about it and shine light on it if we hope to make a difference.
Consider these facts:
http://thecoveringhouse.org/act/resources-2/sex-trafficking-statistics-source-documentation/

I'm sure there are cases of false imprisonment everywhere, and it is terrible, but that can happen in any trial, not just ones for human trafficking. It's a shame that cases like that have to happen, but I hope it gives you no ill-feelings towards the efforts to combat human trafficking.

i have always wondered about the sex trafficking... I dont know why ppl dimiss this idea so fast in so many cases why is it not possible and what about it dosent make sense? I think it makes perfect sense it would explain why no body has been found or why she has never returned ... wasnt there something about a card that was found in her room with some type of sexy nickname or something written on it? that could have been given to her by someone groming her just bc someone is involved in trafficking dosent mean they are necessarily a stranger ppl hide things everyday not sure why ppl feel like they would just KNOW someone was a bad person and they couldn't possible fool anyone? serial killers do this all the time i'm sure traffickers have the same type of persona
