The Oneida police chief tells NEWSChannel 2 that the bones appear to be human. He said the forensics team is going to remove the bones found yesterday near Canal Road and sift through the dirt to see if more bones are buried.

Not far from me. I hope that they are able to put a name on this UID and bring peace to a family quickly. I see so many these days that remain unidentified. Seems crazy given our technology and the WWW.

They have found a full skeleton now.

There is also Heidi Allen who disappeared from the county next door.

The remains are of a male, 26 to 50 years old.

This would clearly rule out all three women mentioned above, and make unlikely the other two males based on age.

Meaghan of Charley Project was speculating in her blog that it might be either Christine Markey or Tammy Mahoney, but we now know that it was neither of them.

Thanks for the update. I was watching, but had not seen anything additional until now.

There are surprisingly few men in that age range missing from the area. I found a handful of men from Syracuse, which, on I-90, is just over a half-hour away:

    Jesus Balbi, 26, in 1991: http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/b/balbi_jesus.html

    Robert McGrath, 42, in 2005:http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...th_robert.html

    Mark Murray, 41, in 2008: http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/m/murray_mark.html

However, there are quite a few missing men from downstate and the city.

Kind of hard to even guess who it could be without even knowing how long the bones have been there.

Yeah, it's strange they don't give even a ballpark range.

I'm putting up his Charley Project page so that it will still be available after Meaghan closes the case.

    Mark C. Murray

    Murray, circa 2008
Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance

Missing Since: March 22, 2008 from Syracuse, New York
    Classification: Endangered Missing
Date Of Birth: February 28, 1967
    Age: 41 years old
    Height and Weight: 5'11, 145 - 155 pounds
Distinguishing Characteristics: Caucasian male. Brown hair, blue eyes.
Clothing/Jewelry Description: A blue denim button-down shirt, blue jeans and white Nike sneakers.

    Details of Disappearance
Murray was last seen at his family's residence in the 100 block of Sabine Street in Syracuse, New York at 3:30 p.m. on March 22, 2008. He said he was going to his son's lacrosse game, which he never missed, but he never arrived there and has never been heard from again. Murray left behind all his personal belongings. His car, a red 1994 Pontiac Firebird with New York license plates numbered EGK 9024, is also missing.

Murray may frequent the New York cities of Warners, Elbridge and Auburn; he has family and friends living there. It's uncharacteristic of him to leave without warning. Few details are available in his case.

RIP Mark. My condolences to his family and friends. I hope that punishment for this crime is swift.

Well, that was blessedly swift. If only ALL UID's spent so little time as UID.

It makes sense that he was from Syracuse, since Oneida's just down the main interstate out of town. That his car hasn't been found seems to indicate foul play, doesn't it? Rather than suicide. Perhaps a carjacking.
