ST. CLAIR (KMOX) -- Authorities continue to search for a Franklin County woman missing since Monday morning. Those close to the 64-year-old say she may not be mentally capable of knowing where she is.

Margret Ann Unger walked away from her home in the 700 block of Turkey Run Road south of St. Clair between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Unger's home is in a remote area some distance from Highway PP.

Sheriff's deputies and others searched for Unger through 3 this morning. Officials believe she's trying to avoid them.

Unger had not taken her medication for a few days, she has a pacemaker with other heart problems, and is believed to be not wearing shoes.

Unger is white, 5'8", 136 pounds. She was last seen wearing a light blue shirt and khaki shorts.

FRANKLIN COUNTY -- A search is under way for a missing 64-year-old woman who may fear those who are looking for her, Sheriff Gary Toelke said late Wednesday afternoon.

Margaret Unger was last seen about 8 a.m. Monday when she ran out of the home she shares with her husband about four miles south of St. Clair. She was very paranoid and was convinced that someone was out to get her, Toelke said. Unger suffers from mental health problems and stopped taking her medicine late last week. She also has heart problems.

Five Months After Margaret Unger Went Missing, Her Husband Keeps His Faith

Two decorative wire-frame birds guard the front door of the Unger residence on Turkey Run Road.

The front door doesn't face the rough, gravel path dotted with middle upper-class homes overlooking picturesque views of rolling valleys. It leads into the deep, thick Missouri woods.

It was five months ago that Margaret Unger, 65, disappeared into those woods, running from voices that plagued her during a terrifying schizophrenic episode.
