To satisfy her drug habit, a Saginaw Township woman traded her 10-year-old granddaughter to a 67-year-old Saginaw man who sexually assaulted the girl, police say.

Angela A. Blackwell, 45, who last lived at 1410 S. Center, Apt. 4, is charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under the age of 13 and a single count of pandering or pimping.

A judge has signed an arrest warrant charging Johnnie L. Griffin, who last lived at 2517 Owen, with two counts of first-degree and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under 13 as well as two gun charges. Police continue to search for him.
................................
Dutoi said the granddaughter would visit Blackwell on weekends, and Blackwell would bring her to Griffin’s home, where, in exchange for cocaine or other narcotics, Griffin would be allowed to sexually assault the granddaughter. The first assault took place in September and last assault was in February, Dutoi said.

Griffin’s second-degree sexual assault charge is in connection with another victim, Dutoi said. Detectives believe there are other victims as well and anticipate more charges, Dutoi said.

After investigating that second-degree incident, investigators learned of the cocaine deals, Dutoi said.

This woman is not a "grand"mother. :furious:

I'm still nauseous thinking what she's done....and that perv roaming the streets looking for his next victim.

After their trial and conviction, both the grandmother and the man who sexually assaulted the girl should be made to serve their time in general population. No matter how many years' sentence each receive the prison population will impose their own punishment. These two deserve no less. I know that may sound callous - but this crime is sickeneing./

this sounds like shayna redux but the girl is still alive thankfully!

Way to go grandmonster.

This poor, poor child. My heart breaks for her. Can you imagine how this poor kid felt knowing she had to go with this witch on the weekends?

Unfreakinbelievable. I pray somebody gets this poor baby some good counseling.

45 and she is the grandmother to a ten year old? So at 35 she was a grandmother? Where is this childs mother? and is she to a victim of this drug addict? I have to ask as it seems to me to consider this acceptable , you would have to been 20 years gone in your head.

I want to hurl!! This is so vile and I just can't wrap my mind around it...multiple times from September through February?? Auuuuugh. I'll stop now before I say what I really think...

I'm so proud of the little girl for telling. This has got to be so traumatic for her.

My prayers for this little girl that she recieves help. I hope that she has a decent mother and others that love her and will help her through this. I hope that *advertiser censored* and that witch of a "grandmother" both burn for eternity.

Michelle Sigona is following this case -- http://www.michellesigona.com/

(It's on the front page of her blog right now, but later it'll be gone...blog post is dated March 25th, 2010.)

Last nite Mike G. on HLN's Prime News talked about it a little....tonite JVM covered it.

LE is still looking for the perp....supposedly the little girl's mother (who dropped her off on the weekends w/ grand-monster) had no clue about g-monster's coke problem. [ETA: that's what I heard on JVM tonite]

I have to admit that I was in the dark about how often this happens until Shaniya's case.
It sickens me that this goes on all over the world.

Children should not be looked at as a form of payment for anything.

Remember the lady that traded kids for a bird?????

I am praying this child is ok. I'm sure it will be a long hard road she will have to take before she is truely ok.

I hope the "grandmother" and the "man" rot.

This breaks my heart. Poor girl will need alot of help, especially psychological as this will follow her the rest of her life. :(

Yes way to go Grandma. :furious:

Johnnie L. Griffin ----- Angela A. Blackwell

SAGINAW — A 67-year-old Saginaw man charged with sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl whose grandmother is charged with delivering her to him in exchange for drugs will stand trial on 16 felony charges.

Saginaw County District Judge A.T. Frank concluded today’s preliminary hearing for Johnnie L. Griffin and the 45-year-old grandmother, Angela A. Blackwell, by ruling that prosecutors had shown probable cause to take the pair to Circuit Court for trial.

Griffin, who last lived at 2517 Owen, is charged with seven sexual assaults, one attempted sexual assault, two sexual assault conspiracies, and accosting children for immoral purposes as well as two cocaine trafficking and two firearm charges. Blackwell, who last lived at 1410 S. Center, Apt. 4, in Saginaw Township, faces six sexual assault charges, two conspiracy charges, a pimping or pandering charge, and a cocaine possession charge.

Three girls, including the 10-year-old granddaughter, testified against the pair April 12 behind closed doors.

Saginaw Police Detective Sgt. Joseph Dutoi has said Blackwell’s granddaughter would visit her grandmother on the weekends, and Blackwell would take her to Griffin’s home where, in exchange for cocaine or other narcotics, Griffin would be allowed to sexually assault the granddaughter. The first assault took place in September and last assault was in February, Dutoi said.

Today, another of Blackwell’s granddaughters, a 14-year-old who now lives in Indiana, testified against the pair, also behind closed doors.

Saginaw Police Officer Ryan Patterson, the first officer to have contact with the 10-year-old granddaughter, was one of two witnesses to testify in open court. Patterson testified about the results of a March 7 search warrant he and other officers executed.

The officer found a bed with pink sheets described by two of the victims, two black plates with what a state police crime lab report said was cocaine residue, blue plastic bags used to package crack cocaine, $1,550 in a sock, a shotgun hidden behind insulation, and pornographic DVDs and magazines.

Saginaw Police Detective Joseph Grigg, the lead investigator in the case, testified about the belongings that Griffin possessed when he was arrested in Flint after a three-week national search.

Griffin had a new phone, Grigg testified. When authorities arrested him, Griffin had a blue duffel bag with a tag that said the bag’s owner was Doug Jones. In the bag was Griffin’s Michigan driver’s license and an approved identification card issued in late March from Jackson, Miss., with Griffin’s picture and the name Doug Jones.

Also in the bag were several bus tickets and other receipts that indicated Griffin had been in Houston and Memphis, Tenn.

The testimony, which concluded about 11:30 a.m., was enough to bind Griffin and Blackwell over to trial, the judge ruled.

Griffin’s Saginaw Township-based attorney, Russell J. Perry, argued that Assistant Prosecutor Paul Fehrman hadn’t met the required burden of proof, while Blackwell’s Saginaw-based attorney, James F. Gust, argued that Blackwell shouldn’t be charged with the assaults because she did not commit them.

Both were convicted on numerous counts. http://www.mlive.com/news/saginaw/index.ssf/2011/05/jury_convicts_grandmother_68-y.html They are complete scum --
Griffin sent a letter April 1 to the mother of two of the victims in which he wrote, “I’m very, very, very sorry” and that he “made a very bad mistake.” Griffin wrote, “I didn’t hurt her, I didn’t force her, I didn’t rape her; she did it all on her own,” adding that his actions were “still wrong.”

Sentence (Wish they had gotten life, if it was possible.)
Saginaw County Chief Circuit Judge Robert L. Kaczmarek this morning sentenced Griffin, 68, and Blackwell, 46, to 25 to 40 years in prison for three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct against Blackwell’s then-9-year-old granddaughter.
The judge also sentenced Griffin . . . to the mandatory two years in prison, with 449 days credit, for possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony. Kaczmarek gave Blackwell credit for 462 days served. http://www.mlive.com/news/saginaw/index.ssf/2011/06/saginaw_man_woman_get_25_to_40.html
