Police are asking the public to help them find a man they say hit an elderly woman with a gun and robbed her after he and four other men posed as police officers to get inside her home in southeast Houston.

Eric Dewayne Brown, 24, who is also known as Dexter Malveaux, is charged with aggravated robbery in the attack, which occurred in the 4900 block of Bataan Road about 10:15 p.m. March 26.

Brown was among five men dressed in black who knocked on the woman's front door. They said they were police officers and then burst inside when she opened the door.

The woman tried to get to her telephone to call for help, but Brown hit her in the back of the head with his gun and she collapsed with a large gash in her skull.

Then the men ransacked the house and stole jewelry.

As they were leaving, the men noted the large amount of blood spilling from the woman's wound and Brown said he would call police for her. But he didn't.

The woman crawled to the telephone and called her daughter, who alerted police.

The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital and treated for her injury.

Brown is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall and he weighs 160 pounds. He has short black hair and brown eyes.
