CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A man who was stabbed earlier this month has died from his injuries and police now intend to file murder charges against the suspect.
Police say Robert Lee Scott died at Carolinas Medical Center on Wednesday, at 4:13 a.m.
The stabbing occurred around 9:13 p.m. along the 1300 block of Condon Street on Tuesday, April 13.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Scott had been stabbed.
Scott told police he gave the suspect, Eugene Stradford, a ride in Scott's van. When they were parked along Condon Street, Stradford told Scott he was going to take the van.
Scott resisted and was stabbed in the chest by Stradford, police said.
Stradford fled the scene in Scott's 2000 Dodge Ram van.
On Wednesday, April 14, police spotted the stolen van outside a house where Stradford was hiding out. Police set up a perimeter and eventually took him into custody.
Stradford was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, attempted murder and armed robbery. He will now be charged with murder, police said.
