The human remains found on a residential property in Dresden, Ont., on Wednesday are the subject of a homicide investigation, local police said.

Skeleton found in Ontario well
Bones could be key to decades-old mystery

Dresden residents are wondering if skeletal remains discovered in a dormant well Wednesday are those of a man who went missing decades ago.

"Maybe this will solve the Dresden mystery after all," said a passerby, who wished to remain anonymous. "That's the first thing that came across my mind -- Clint Brown.

"
They could never find him, they looked for years.

Wonder who the previous owners were and if there spouse dissapeard. Need old property records.

It's also not far from Michigan. I wish they would release more info....I am sooooo impatient.

My parents live just outside Dresden on Kent Bridge Rd.
I thought it would be bigger news, but my parents seem to think the police have been given an indication on who it may be, based on archival missing persons cases.
Also remember that Dresden Cemetary runs the bank of the river, and a couple years ago there was terrible erosion that caused numerous caskets/grave markers to be unearthed and swallowed by the river. A new retaining wall was installed. Unsure if all were recovered, so maybe that is why there isn't more interest?
I also wonder if this person is linked to the Underground Railroad, and/or the hiding of slaves during that awful period of history. Many black people sought refuge in Dresden area (Uncle Tom's Cabin is located in Dresden).
I will ask our family friend, who lives on Croton Line, and whose house backs the cemetary.

If anyone has specific questions regarding the area, please let me know and I will ask my Dad who has lived there for 68 years.
