Austin police have charged transient Ronald Hurd with sexual assault of a child after they say he assaulted a teenager in the bathroom of Waterloo Park.

On April 7 an Austin Police officer was approached by a teenage girl at Brackenridge Hospital. The girl told police that she had just been assaulted by a man while she was in the bathroom in the nearby park. The victim told police that the attack stopped when a city employee opened the bathroom door and told them to leave.

The victim gave police a description her attacker. Thirty minutes later, police stopped Hurd because he matched that description. Hurd was arrested and questioned by police.

According to court documents, Hurd admitted to police that he assaulted the teenager in the bathroom.

Police also interviewed the city employee who witnessed the alleged attack. He told police that when he walked into the bathroom, he saw the two people engaging in sexual intercourse.
