Body found along road in Everett

EVERETT, Wash. – A body was found Sunday along a road in the Westmont neighborhood of south Everett.
Everett police spokesman Sgt. Robert Goetz said a man driving by noticed something strange in the ditch along the road and called police.
Goetz said the body was inside a sleeping bag and the feet were bound with duct tape. Goetz said a foot in a sock was exposed from the top of the bag.
The gender, race and age of the person is not yet known.
The Washington State Crime Lab has been called in to help investigate.
Police are trying to determine if the body is on public or private land. If it is on private property, police need to obtain a search warrant.

This isn't the first time this has happened according to the story:

It was the second time a body has been found duct-taped inside a sleeping bag along the roadside in Snohomish County.

In the first incident, in November 2007, a well-groomed man in his 40s was found about 10 feet off the roadway along Interstate 5 in Mountlake Terrace.

The body was later connected to a Lynnwood home with a substantial drug cache, including cocaine, marijuana, several pounds of heroin and a large amount of cash.

Two men were later arrested in connection with that incident. - snipped

Here's an article from 2007 about the prior sleeping bag victim:

So I guess that means that they have identified this victim already. Hopefully we can give her a name soon.

I hope they catch who did this soon. My sympathies to Angela's friends and family.

Woman found slain near Paine Field ID’d

Beery didn’t deserve what happened to her, said her mother, Toni Lemley, speaking from her home in Las Vegas. She pleaded with people in Snohomish County to contact police if they saw anything that could help detectives solve the case.

Lemley described her daughter as a kind, outgoing woman who once served in the U.S. Army. She also was a mother of two teenage children but they weren’t living with her, Lemley said.

“She had the cheerleader-type personality,” Lemley said. “She loved to be around people.”

Beery was born and raised in New Mexico. She moved around a lot and ended up in Seattle not too long ago.

Goetz said Beery had a prostitution charge in Seattle.

Lemley said she chatted with her daughter online on Friday and noticed nothing out of the ordinary. She hopes detectives soon will be able to shed light on how Beery got in harm’s way.

“So there can be closure for her children, for her family,” Lemley said. - snipped

I love how the prostitution charge is in the article but not the name of the guy they arrested for murder.

Nov 2010
James Naudon, 26, was sentenced to about 10 years in prison for the murder of Angela Denise Beery. The 39-year-old mother was strangled and stabbed to death May 1.Naudon stuffed Beery’s body in a sleeping bag and dumped it off the side of a road in south Everett. He fled to California but was arrested and confessed to killing Beery. He pleaded guilty in October to second-degree murder. In his plea, Naudon said that he killed Beery in self-defense, but acknowledged that a jury likely would find that his use of force was excessive and convict him of murder.
