MISSING: UW-SP student vanishes

“She was really outgoing; very nice person, very beautiful girl,” said Katie Kloth, referring to her friend Christine Walters, 23, who was officially reported missing Nov. 17, 2008.

Many share these characteristics as they describe their friend, Walters, who attended the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point up until right before the beginning of the fall semester. She was studying botany and ethnobotany when she was attending school but she had many other interests outside of campus that led her to the West Coast.
It all started back in July when she went to Portland, Ore. to visit with friends for a few weeks.

“She was always looking for adventure, and I think she always just wanted to keep traveling because she wanted to be a yoga instructor, and she didn’t know where she’d fit in,” said Kloth. “She thought out West would be better for her free-spirit-mentality and we all thought that would be good for her too.”

Toni Osiecki, another friend, thinks that her going out West had a lot to do with a recent feeling of freedom from a recent breakup.
“She had just gone through a move after she and her boyfriend broke up and felt like a big weight had been lifted off her shoulders,” said Osiecki. “She felt like she had a fresh start. She was going out to Oregon to visit a mutual friend and it was just a chance for her to get back to her authentic self and do something independent without having anyone to bounce ideas off. I feel like this gave her that empowering energy, to get her back to herself.”

Despite her round-trip ticket, she chose not to return to UW-SP, choosing to stay on the West Coast, in Humboldt County, Cali., to be specific. This area is known for its natural beauty, featuring redwood trees and stunning coasts. The private investigator believes this may be one of the reasons she remained behind, as the area embraced many of the same beliefs as her.

An incident that occurred on Nov. 12, leaves many wondering whether something disturbing may have been going on. A call from a rural citizen of Humboldt County said that they found Walters on their doorstep. She showed up without any clothing and seemed to be traumatized. The citizens contacted the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department who attempted to help Walters. Despite questioning, they were unable to attain any information as to what might have happened to her. After contacting her mother, she seemed to recover and was ready to return home.

“We didn’t think there was any evidence of drug use or mental illness,” said Cook. “She was just really frightened.”

Two days later, she was trying to return home but was never heard from again. Her belongings were found at a spiritual center in Arcata, Cali. The owner of the center claimed this was a common occurrence while Walters was around.

Mother Anita Walters and Aunt Amy made a beautiful URL remembering and trying to find Christine: http://www.findchristinewalters.com/ please share and post.

A new poster over at the crime discussion site Peace 4 the Missing, has stirred up quite a bit of discussion regarding Christine's case. The new poster states that he is "Brian Schider" from Sedona, Arizona. He describes himself as a psychic and is employed by a small business called the Angels of Enlightenment. SlamDunk talks about his comments: http://theslamdunktrove.blogspot.com/search/label/Christine Walters

This is such a bizarre case. I would love to know what Shamans she was supposed to see and what retreat she was attending. It's believed she attended a tea ceremony - look it up, not what it sounds like.

My BFF reminds me so much of her in lifestyle - she would go on random trips to random places without doing research (like traveling to non-english speaking countries alone with hardly any plans...stupid stupid stupid...always made sure she kept in contact while she was gone). She attended Burning Man and told me about a Shaman she met as well as other really disturbing stories. I love nature and really like to embrace it, my co-workers would probably consider me "hippy" though I am far from it. I have met many hippies that just don't seem right in the head. They make me uneasy to be honest, at least the hard-core ones. I admire them for truly living up to what they believe in, but the whole lifestyle is too weird for me. I've heard too many weird, creepy. disturbing stories from those that I know. MOO and based on my experiences.

Ok I couldn't find the right tea ceremony that I was referencing so here is what it says in an article on her:

""Tea ceremonies are actually illegal in the Unites States," Lauth said. "The people who hold these gatherings pose them as cleansing ceremonies. They are potentially dangerous because some people can have such adverse reactions to them that if they have an illness or disorder like bipolarity or depression, it can surface."

Lauth said the drug used at the tea ceremonies is called ayahuasca. "

Some interesting comments.

This is a commentor who is a kind of a spiritualist who actually spoke to the Shaman:
http://www.facebook.com/people/Brian-Schider/753577870

He seems to contend Christine is dead. He is very critical of the lead detective Dan Paris.

Brian Schider also identified the shaman as being Tito Santana who was in Scotland in June 2010. Later in France.

It was after she called her parents and asked for her ID and birth certificate to be sent to her and she was seen duplicating them at a copy center and acting suspiciously that she disappeared. How do we know she isn't in Europe with Tito? It is a multi-million dollar industry in Europe.

One question that came to mind were the other participants in the tea ceremony. One rumored to be a elementary school teacher who be came very upset over being questioned. Supposedly she feels she may lose her job.

Personally, I think she is still alive.

I think so too. Maybe in Europe or just lost in the world of mysticism. Although I find it disturbing not more effort was made in questioning the last people to see her.

If you have any info please contact:

It seems that some people think Christine left with the Shaman. Incase some of you don't know, a person can not be admitted into another country without a passport. From everything posted, Christine only had photo copies of her ID. That is hardly enough to get on plane let alone leave the country.

Here is a direct quote from peace for the missings website:

"The search site was Cooper Gulch Park, Eurekea, Ca (it was chose psychically)
first search date 4-21-09 - 4-26-09
The search using the dog was in May. We took the dog to many places in Eureka. Only two confirmed hits. One hit AT Cooper and the other in the Marina. The Marina Hit could be a number of things. Water hits are a little different then ground hits.
After being told about local kids placing human remains in the park, I researched it. I didn't find any news reports or documents to support what the police said about it. If the information is true and exists, I can't find it. Also if it does exist, the news paper prints what is told them by the police, when it comes to police matters. It may be a lie on there part to keep the people in that neighbohood feeling safe. I was told by random kids to not be in that park at night. These kids told me they have been chased off by homeless, threatened, ect.... I do not have these kid's names.

2-3 weeks after the may 09 search, they Eureka Pd contacted Anita for a sample of Christines's DNA. Someone had trurned in an arm or a hand. Not sure which it is. It wasn't Christine, but it was someone. I don't know who found it or where it was found, but he PD still took time to ask for a sample. Why ask for a sample when the Pd has her belonings? I find it hard to believe that a sample couldn't have been taken from underclothing or possible loose hairs from a hairbrush. This information was given to me by Anita.
The police did come after the dog marked the spot. They dug for two feet and then stopped. No search perimiter was made. No other spots were checked there. From that point excuses were made to why the dog hit on that spot"

In August of 2010 a pelvic bone was found at Cooper Gulch Park.
http://www.times-standard.com/localnews/ci_15931064

The police don't know who the bone belongs to, but they are sure there are bones in that park. Why did the police reject the may 2009 search with a professional search dog? If the police were trying to find her, why not investigate a credible dog hit? What do they know and not want to admit?

Also check out http://denzal.org/ This is one of the Shamans websites.

Speculations don't solve cases, facts do.

Why is Brian44 trying so hard to convince everyone Christine is dead? Brian has actually gone to help search for Christine.

The news stories he says are direct quotes from peace4missing are taken out of context.

One may leave this country with just a birth certificate. I did so as recently as a few months ago while visiting Mexico.

I have family members who have lived this alternative life style and in fact disappeared and turned up years later.

I would much rather Christine's mother have the hope she may see her child again. There has been no proof or evidence of Christine's death.

I am very interested in what the other members of the so called tea ceremony (a kin to a Timothy O'Leary experience) have to say about the disappearance of their friend Christine.

Why did she request her mother send her, immediately, her birth certificate and DL? Why was she said to act suspiciously when she was seen xeroxing them. Why hasn't Brian44 released the information he said he would on the peace for the missing website?

Is he being paid for his services? I also found his alternative lifestyle activities interesting as posted on Peace and on Facebook.

Sad he has nothing more to report than speculation of a death with no evidence.

Volume,
A person should never give up hope. Hope is important, it may be the one thing in a missing person's case that keeps the family and friends of the missing sane. It is my opinion that I think she is dead. I wish I didn't form this opinion. The links below are two good examples of what is happening in Eureka. The following articles are only 2 of many that support a foul play senario.

Is this site not named WEBSLEUTHS? Sleuthing covers all possibilities including death. That does not mean that I lost hope or that I pray less for Christine's safe return. I pray everyday for her to be with her family and friends. Unfortunatly, hope doesn't bring a missing person home. (Active searching and open discussions that could bring facts to light do. Christine's mom wants me to post and keep posting. It's up to her and when she tells me to stop, I will. I think the people who attended the tea ceremony should be questioned over and over. I think extensive searches of homeless emcampments, off the grid communities, and mental hospitals should be investigated. Anita is not happy with the way the police are handling this. That last sentence is an understatement. America's most wanted was going to do an episode about Christine's disapearence. AMW has the resources to help in a very big way. Eureka PD will not cooporate with them. (That is a fact) They(AMW) will not do the show for that reason. I started posting after Anita told me this. More needs to be done and fast. Why did the police ignore a credible dog scent hit? The dog used two different types of scents to choose a location. Human body oil/cadaver and scents from Christine's clothing in her backpack. I was there when the dog scented her clothes and ran back to the same spot in the woods. The police officers that witnessed this, made excuses for the dog hit and dismissed it without conducting a proper search. 16 months later a pelvic bone is found in the "May 2009 search area". I spoke with the person who wrote the article and he does not know if there will be a follow-up article or if the bone is male or female. Even if the bone is not Christine's, it is someone's. I am sure whoever it is has a family that wants them back. I could understand the police not taking me serious if I told them there was a body in the park and I know it because I am psychic. I did not take that approach. I brought a search and rescue unit that has worked with the police and FBI on searches. I chose a highly respected search unit with an amazing search record. The police did not take them seriously. Why?

Also Christine had PHOTOCOPIES not originals of her birth certificate and ID.
A person can get into Mexico with a birth certificate and another form, but not a photo copy. I checked with TSA, border patrol and immigration. There is no-way she made it out of the country with photocopies.

Lastly I am not getting paid to help. I am helping because I care. If any of you knew Christine or spoke with the people that knew her best, you would realize this is out of Christine's Character to just disapear and not contact her mom for 2 plus years. Hopefully by this spring, Christine's video will be on all the missing persons websites. The video will cover everything from facts to different senarios.

Peace for the missing is not a sleuth site, it is for family and friends of the missing. Out of respect for the Web admins, I will not be posting facts of the case on their site.

PS Volume,
The video will explain so much more. I am personally funding it and it takes time to produce from start to finish.

Actually, a person in the United States can enter Mexico without any documentation. They only need documentation when trying to re-enter the US. The busiest border crossing is in San Ysidro, CA, where you can just walk or drive across:

Entry into Mexico requires documentation. The website you posted is not a government site. Check the foreign and common wealth websites. The site you posted is stating false information. Some border agents will let people pass with nothing, but it is not legal. The area you speak of is notorious for murder, rape, theft, drugs, trafficing and kidnapping. Why are some of you so thick headed? Since no-one wants to address why the police didn't take the K-9 find seriously, I will. I aggree with Brian, something in Eureka is not right. There is a protocol when K-9's make a discovery. As an ex-police officer I would know. The articles he posted are messed up. The town seems to have a problem catching murderers of known murders and there are 143 registered sex offenders living in Eureka. What I found interesting about the city data sheet was some of the sex offenders addresses posted, are fake. There are even registered sex offenders living next to Cooper Gulch Park, that have addresses unlocatable on a map. Investigation is about leaving no stone unturned. My advice to you Brian is: Hold off on posting untill the video is completed. I assume that Christine's mom has approved the video, if so, have her release it. If she releases it, others will listen.

I agree that something is not right, and from what I read I believe that Christine is unfortunately no longer with us.

The ONLY point that I was addressing in my post was the entry into Mexico issue. I mentioned the San Ysidro crossing because there is a missing family who was thought to have possibly crossed into Mexico there. I'm not sure what Mexico legally requires, but US police have no way of knowing if the family crossed or not. There is no record to look at and only a grainy camera. Passports were left at home. Legal or not, if someone wanted into Mexico they could easily get there with no identification.

I pray that Christine's family finds her.
