It has been almost two days since 41-year-old Scott Walkenford last contacted family members and authorities are asking for anyone who saw him on Saturday afternoon to share where he was seen and what he was wearing.

"Right now we are just looking for ideas," Douglas Mountain Rescue's Steve Lewis said from the operations area along Mendenhall Loop Road on Sunday afternoon. "We have searched a wide area exhaustedly and now we will go back and try some areas again."

Walkenford had contacted a family member via text on Saturday afternoon, but would not say where he was. His vehicle was found Saturday night in the Mendenhall River School parking area. He is believed to be despondent.

It should have been a normal day for Chris Walkenford Sr. as he moved along the trails along the Mendenhall River. Tour guides practiced their river rafting skills, hikers walked with pets, and sunshine permeated the foliage.

It should have been a normal day except that Walkenford was still searching for his brother, Scott, who has been missing since Saturday.

Scott is still listed as missing.

Questions Posted to "Ask a Dispatcher"

Q. I live down the street from Scott Walkenford and my son and I are very concerned for him. Have any reports come in that he's been found?

Dear Juneau Resident,

We do not have any information that Mr. Walkenford has been located. Law enforcement is hoping for more tips from people who might have seen him Friday or Saturday so that additional search areas can be identified. Dredge Lake, the area near Mr. Walkenford's car, has been heavily searched with no results.

A Juneau teen died Sunday after being stricken with heat exhaustion on a trail in Phoenix.

Kevin Walkenford, 14, was hiking with his mother, Yvonne Davenport, his aunt and a cousin when he collapsed near the end of a four-and-a-half-hour hike in the South Mountain Park and Preserve.

Paramedics were called to the trail at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday. It took them about a half hour to reach the boy, who was in extremely critical condition when they arrived, Phoenix Fire Department Capt. Hugh Chase said.

Walkenford was treated for heat exhaustion at the scene then transported to the Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, where he was pronounced dead Sunday afternoon.

Walkenford lived in Juneau with his father, Scott Walkenford. He was in Phoenix visiting his mother.

After reading about the death of his son I don't have a good feeling about this at all. Maybe they are somewhere happy together, that's what I'm hoping for them.

Kevin died in 2009. Scott, his dad, went missing in 2010. Scott was despondent over the death of his son, I'm guessing. Poor family

Looks like he is deceased, NamUs page down and Charley Project marked "resolved":

Jeffrey Scott Walkenford – The Charley Project

Details of Disappearance
Walkenford disappeared from Juneau, Alaska on May 15, 2010. In September 2016, hikers found human remains about 50 feet off a trail in a large, flat area with many lakes and ponds. The area had been previously searched, but authorities believe the thick foliage may have concealed Walkenford's body.

Although the body hasn't been officially identified and the identification may take up to six months, investigators are "fairly certain" it's his remains, because near the body they found clothing like the clothes he was last seen wearing, as well as a cellular phone with photographs of Walkenford stored on it.
