Body of missing Detroit woman, 20, found

Regina McDaniel II, 20, a pharmacy technician student with a 2-year-old son, was just identified, Detroit Police spokesman John Roach said today.

Her decomposed body was found April 15 in a garage in the 12400 block of Waltham on the city's east side, near Gratiot between Seymour and East Outer Drive, Roach said.

McDaniel was last seen Nov. 3 leaving her Palmer Park home

Regina McDaniel wanted to know what happened to her daughter, but finding out was so devastating, she could barely handle the truth.

Days after Regina disappeared, the car she was driving was found in a tow lot in Detroit. Six months later, her badly-decomposed body was found in an abandoned garage.

Investigators said they won't know the exact cause of Regina's death for a few days.

The elder Regina McDaniel said she is distraught and she believes something terrible happened to her daughter because she would never leave her 2-year-old son for that long.

"Never, ever has she ever disappeared without calling us or calling the baby so he could hear her voice," said a distraught Regina McDaniel about her daughter.

"I have been praying for her. For whatever ordeals she has come across, to just survive it. Just survive it baby and come home to your mama," said the elder Regina McDaniel.
