Valencia's family and friends spent May 13 and Saturday posting fliers around town asking if anyone has seen their loved one.
Valencia's sister, Monica, said police subpoenaed his phone records last week. But she indicated that law enforcement has not been as pro-active as she would like in trying to find her brother.
"We've been the ones calling the media. It's a voluntary leave as far as the police are concerned," Monica Valencia said.
She said in the past her brother did disappear for a week. On that occasion loved ones eventually found out he was skiing with friends. Monica Valencia said she believes her brother's most recent disappearance is different.
"From what we know he was with friends," she said of the previous incident. "This time his friends have not heard from him." Hector Valencia is described as six feet tall and weighing 180 pounds. He has brown hair, brown eyes and tattoos on one of his arms, his back, and an "HJV" tattoo on his calf. He was last seen by a friend on May 4, police said.

This article sounds like it might be Hector Valencia that was found today. The month he went missing is the month mentioned in the article, May 2010.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Los Banos-Merced County Sheriff's dive team recovered a body in a sunken car almost two years after an incident.
On Friday, crews found the body near the Los Banos Detention Dam. They said water levels had receded to the point where the car was visible and state parks called the Action Tow out of Fresno to dive the wreck.
The Merced Sheriff's Office was called when they discovered that the 4X4 vehicle had been reported missing in May of 2010 out of Los Banos and there may still be a body inside.
The Dive Team arrived at the scene by boat and the Merced Sheriff's Air Unit was also on hand to provide observation and help transport equipment to the dive site if necessary.
"This is why it's vital to have these types of resources available," Sheriff Mark Pazin said. "The Dive Team did an outstanding job recovering a victim and which will assist an allied agency with an investigation that is almost two years old."
After the Sheriff's Dive Team entered the water, they discovered the remains of a body inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle.
Any detail about the missing vehicle report would have to come from Los Banos Police and the identity of the body will not be available until autopsy next week.
