NJ - Carl Mirasola, 43, shot to death in his Butler home, 22 May 2010

    http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/201...g_after_b.html

    • Wheelchair-bound Butler woman arrested after husband is fatally shot
Mirasola, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2004 and uses a wheelchair, was in the midst of an ugly divorce with her husband, an information-technology specialist for Pearson Education in Upper Saddle River, according to her divorce attorney, Robert Stack. Mirasola allegedly shot her 43-year-old husband several times with a gun registered to her.
According to Stack and others, the couple had had marital problems since Mirasola’s diagnosis. The attorney said "the treatment he gave her when she developed MS was staggering" and the divorce had been in the works for several weeks.

What a shame. Praying for their children that are currently in foster care.

"the treatment he gave her when she developed MS was staggering"

does this mean that he took good care of her, or that he mistreated her?

to ella, she's ms wheelchair bound, has 3 kids, and is setting up the 'woe is me, and i was mistreated' defense'

to tapu, im assuming the lawyer is saying she was mistreated (hence the divorce)

Those poor children. There's no words.

Here's an interesting yet heart wrenching thing I found. Mr. Mirasola loved motorcycles. He shows one here that says the bike he can't have and then shows why.

He then says it's worth it.

The latest in her defense and her bail hearing. This surprising murder happened about 2 miles north of where I work in a decent community of solidly working class folk, low crime, majority of them home-owning, beautiful woodland mountain town - salt of the earth kind of place.

A judge today sentenced Amalia Mirasola to 40 years in state prison for shooting her husband, Carl, to death, after hearing the couple’s teenage daughter describe her father as “the kindest person I knew”...

Under the sentence imposed by Superior Court Judge Robert Gilson in Morristown, Amalia Mirasola, 47, who has multiple sclerosis and uses a wheelchair, must serve 34 years before becoming eligible for parole.
