Veyda Sellers looks to me like a good possible.

Her age and height are good.

The distance between Ft. Bragg and New Orleans is about 850 miles. The timeline is pretty good.

She appears to be wearing stud earrings, and even is wearing a necklace like the necklace on the UID's reconstruction (at her right side of the neck) There is no mention of a necklace, but one was included in the recon for whatever reason.

There were no green contacts found on the UID. There is also no mention of a cesarean scar on the UID, but then again, it says that the body was badly decomposed. Maybe too much so to detect a cesarean scar.

I think Veyda does look like a good possible.
I found this link while trying to find a better photo of her:
http://www.cid.army.mil/missing.html

And also a post on this site:
http://www.unsolvedmysteries.com/usm87587.html
suggesting that her husband is involved in her disappearance.

I've found her listed as Veyda Marie Sellers, Veyda Maria Sellers and just plain Maria Sellers but still have not found any better photos.

I just sent an e-mail to Mary Manhein to see whether Veyda Sellers has been looked at as a possible for this UID.

Same face, lips etc as Mabel Norma Foster. No dark mark like Mabel had on her face, but maybe after a week that sort of thing can be confused for lividity or decompostion.

I don't know how to interpret dental charts so well... would her dental charts be consistent with Mabel Norma Foster's "Several missing teeth in the lower, back part of her jaw."?

http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/1962dfmd.html

If it is Mabel Foster, that would leave several years of her life unaccounted for.

Yes it is consistent. The UID was missing all of her lower molars on both sides prior to her death. She was also missing several other molars (Roots Only), but it is unclear whether they were missing before or after her death.

http://www.nampn.org/cases/rogers_tamikqra.html

This woman Tamikqra Sandreia Rogers, who went missing in July 1999 from East Point, GA seems to have the same shaped face as the reconstruction.

She is a few years younger 24. It lists her height as 5'9 or 5'11. (Charley project just says 5'11") which is significantly taller than the height listed here for the JD, but I couldn't get past the way the eyebrows and the long face seem to match the artist's reconstruction. Both eyebrows slant down and the right one seems to ride a little higher above the eye and the artist seem to have done that also.

What do you guys think, could they be that far off in height, or could whomever posted Tamikqra as missing not really know how tall she was since it's posted as two different heights?

The facial shape is certainly similar.

But it's too much of a stretch to get from 5'5" to 5'9" or 5'11". Sure, one of the two could be wrong, but her age is off as well. I would need something to hang my hat on other than resemblance to a facial reconstruction.

I just received a reply from Mary Manhein of LSU Faces Lab.

Carl,

I have been out of town but have contacted the agency on this case. I will keep you posted.

Helen

Helen just sent me an e-mail on Veyda Sellers.

Carl, Based on the dental records available, the two do not appear to match. Helen

I did not see any rule-outs on this UID's Namus profile.

how about this possible match, Jacqueline Ellis? she was 5'5" which is precisely the UID's height. she was 39 when last seen alive in April 1998 so that would put her just past the upper estimated age range and was from Jefferson County, LA.

Hmmm... Would they have been able to see the tattoo? If so, it would rule Yolanda out.

The anniversary is next week. I hope we can get her name back soon.

Wondering if anyone can post an updated exclusion list?
