CA - Starr Maurie Hill, 46, Middletown, 18 May 2005Five years later, woman's disappearance baffles family, authorities
In May of 2005, a woman was reported to have left her home on Western Mine Road in Middletown following an argument with her husband, walking off into a rainy afternoon.
That woman, Starr Hill, was never seen again.
Family members traveled around the region, posting fliers about the missing woman. Sheriff's investigators found no sign that her credit cards or cell phones had been used since her disappearance.
One clue appeared in October of 2005 when a vineyard worker found Hill's cell phone along Highway 29 near Lower Lake. However, investigators said it yielded no forensic evidence. The phone, they concluded, had last been used before Starr Hill's disappearance.
In May of 2007, the sheriff's office arranged for another search of the Western Mine Road property with a noted cadaver dog handler, but again no clues were found.

Wow. Seems like it is obvious who had something to do with Star's disappearance. The last person to see her, the person who stopped cooperating. I guess lack of evidence is the issue here. How awful for her family.
All kinds of hugs!

Starr is still missing.
More info - her husband said she came back and took some of her possessions after walking off into the rain.
Later, he came home from a shift as a firefighter in Contra Costa County the next day to find his wife's purse, makeup bag and some duffel bags missing, with an angry note from her left for him. A friend of the couple also had reportedly seen Starr walking along Highway 29 toward Twin Pine Casino. She had left him for as long as two weeks at a time on eight occasions during the seven years of their marriage, but she always phoned her mother and grown children to let them know where she was and that she was all right.

Few physical clues in Hill's case have been found, and with Sheriff Rod Mitchell reporting that Curtis Hill has refused to be interviewed by investigators, the case has apparently hit a dead end.
Curtis Hill did not return several phone calls Lake County News placed to his Middletown home seeking comment for this story.
Starr Hill's daughter, April Robinson, holds out hope that someone with information in the case will come forward, although she said she and her family believe her mother is dead.
When Robinson said she last spoke with her mother on May 17, 2005, she said Starr “sounded normal.”
“She just expressed that she and Curtis were arguing and she was unhappy,” said Robinson.
Robinson said “the idea had been tossed around” that Starr might leave Curtis.
“That was something that was discussed a lot, because they fought a lot, but not to the extent she was going to pick up and leave and never come back,” she said.
Robinson said she doesn't know if Curtis Hill knew Starr was talking about possibly leaving the marriage.
But she does believe he knows what happened to her mother.
“I believe that they were in a big fight and at equal parts in the fight,” said Robinson, and that “something bad happened” which led to Curtis Hill's refusal to speak to authorities...
Since her mother's disappearance, Robinson said she's asked Curtis “several times if I can have any of her belongings and he told me no.” That includes, she said, family pictures and heirlooms...
Robinson said Hill threatened to sue her for libel, and accused her of lying to authorities and the media about the circumstances surrounding her mother's disappearance. Robinson said Hill stated that he had never claimed he and Starr had fought before she disappeared, a claim that contradicts a discussion he had with this reporter in May 2005.
