NC NC - Hollis McAbee, 31, Durham, 29 May 2010

Durham, N.C. — Durham County sheriff's investigators are asking for the public's help in locating a Durham man who went missing last month.

Family members reported Hollis Kirkland McAbee, 31, missing May 29 after having no contact with him since May 23 and after finding his vehicle at his home.

McAbee has brown hair, green eyes and stands about 5 feet 10 inches and weighs approximately 195 pounds.

Hollis Kirkland "Kirk" McAbee, 31, was last seen at his home at 2734 Saddle Drive on May 23, 2010. Investigators said his estranged wife found his car at the house, with the key still in the ignition and cash left on the console.

His mother, Cindy, said she knew something was wrong when McAbee, a father of two, missed his son's birthday party.

Search warrants show McAbee was caught up in the drug trade and had a long rap sheet. Wherever he is, he’s not there by choice. Investigators want to talk with his friend and business associate, Armando Reyna-Soto.

“They were, from what we’re gathering, good friends,” Harris said.

Soto worked with McAbee, when McAbee owned Hollywood Dry Cleaners on Guess Road.

“He’s actually a good friend of the family, of everybody. We all knew him and thought very highly of him,” Cindy McAbee said.

McAbee's brother, Thomas, posted a YouTube video about his brother.

Investigators said they believe Reyna-Soto may have gone to Mexico. A search warrant says McAbee's wife allegedly admitted to having an affair with a friend of her husband's who fled to Mexico after his disappearance...

A search of McAbee's record shows numerous charges, including possession of a firearm by a felon, felony breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen goods/property, larceny by employee, obtaining property by false pretense and trafficking in marijuana.

Reyna-Soto's record is shorter and includes a charge for driving with a revoked license.

Cindy McAbee said she just wants her son back, especially for his two children who need him.

"It's like the rest of the world just keeps on going and everything is normal, except your world is falling apart and you are trying to hold it all together," she said.
