Here is the deal:

No gossip or rumor

Clarify your opinions as such

LINK factual information. We are giving a bit of leeway FOR NOW because of the language barrier but generally MSM sources for facts is what we go with. Not blogs or opinion pieces.

Respect copyright. Copy 10% of the article and provide a link. Again,we a re giving a bit of leeway FOR NOW due to the language barrier. But that will tighten up again so may as well get used to it.

Sorry to sound so harsh but we have let the threads run so we could vent, compare notes, and generally get information out there on this unbelievable turn of events

But now it is time to get back to serious exchange of ideas and constructive discussion.

The name calling and pettiness has got to stop and will not be tolerated. Automatic 3 day time outs, no questions asked for any name calling or derogatory alterations of names. IOW stop calling Joran- Urine and vanderslop . Good grief self edit and make sure your friends know the rule.

Thanks to everyone for working so hard here let's keep moving forward with good information.

It helps everyone when you alert, because there is nothing more frustrating than having a whole thread shut down because it has runamuck. When you alert for us we can find it see it and deal with it ASAP and keep things flowing.

Thanks.

I can't say anything here about Joran that won't get me a time out. So, instead..I'd just like to say that Natalie and Stehpany's families are in my prayers tonight.

:rose: :rose:

Per the fellow gambler (can't recall his name) Joran stated that he was having difficulty meeting women in Peru. The first woman that he gets to his room - by whatever means - is on her period and self professed gay. Can you imagine what a loser he must have felt like?! That humiliation could have just turned to murderous rage.

whew, now that all that has been resolved, back to the topic at hand.

I do not know how close he and his mother are. I had heard it reported quite some time ago that they were not speaking. I wonder if mom was not all that on board with some of the lengths dad was willing to go. It seemed as if after the senior van der Sloot passed, Joran and his mother had a falling out. Or maybe she just refused to finance the playboy lifestyle to which he had become accustomed.

Vinda de Sousa was just on CNN ref: Joran. She says she is the attorney for Natalee's father and that they are hoping to "join" the process [or something like that] in the Peruvian courts as the injured or damaged parties.

I've never heard of such a thing in a criminal case.

[Am I posting this on the right thread?]

Well that will be interesting to see how that unfolds because Joran killed Stephany and that is not something that would have injured the Holloway's.

If the Holloway's want to file a civil case against Joran for damages and injury, I would think they would have to go back to Aruba.

I don't think Mr. Holloway could file damages against Joran for taking Beth's money because Beth already has her case against Joran in the US and Mr. Holloway had no clue about the "transactions".

IMO any info you have about Joran is o.k. here. Peruvian law is so different than what we are use to. I've been trying to understand it myself.

The attorney for Mr. Holloway was on "Rick's List" on CNN right before I posted it. He named Beth as his most intriguing person of the day so it sounds like he will be having a lot more about the case right now. [Rick Sanchez]

eta - It is on right now. Regular CNN, not HLN.

Jean Casares is on CNN right now, too, btw.

On the interview he did with Greta some time back he said he had no contact. So, maybe it's true. I don't know when that was taped.

(Sorry, thread is locked and I can't quote SoCalSleuth)

According to La Republica: Joran confessed that he gave her a strong Karate chop to the neck. Also reported that since he confessed with a lawyer present & the confession otherwise was obtained strictly following procedure and the law, there is no chance it will be thrown out by a court. Link here: http://www.larepublica.pe/sociedad/0...tephany-flores

PS Also reported that he confessed at 5:30 pm after they showed him the videotapes taken at the hotel showed that no one else could have done this.

(A Karate chop to the neck using just his hand? Would that be enough to break a neck or did he use the tennis racket?)

regarding a sex motive in the crimes, I always thought in the case of Natalee, now also with Stephany....if he really was interested in drugging young women for sex, he could accomplish that easily enough, and then he'd be on his way, and they would wake up. They wouldn't die. You know? So, I always kind of wondered if sex had been the goal at all. I mean he told the story about having wanted to have sex with Natalee, etc, but to me the second he started saying that, I began to wonder if that was true at all. It seemed more like someone wanting others to think he'd wanted sex with the young woman, trying to put forth this image.
Robbery?....but robbery could also be accomplished very easily without physically harming the young woman, as easy as grabbing her purse, or snatching a credit card when she's in the restroom, or tying her to something and taking off with her credit cards, or writing down her credit card numbers or whatever, seems like he could get people's credit cards or cash easily enough in casinos with everyone drinking etc.
As far as did the girl reject his advances so he became enraged, etc, I always found that unlikely, because, well, I would think he could score at least one girl in any casino or club, he's a nice looking, tall young man, is well to do, well-spoken, speaks languages so can meet lots of girls, seems to have quite a bit of charm, if one girl didn't want sex, I would think he could easily find another who did, and on top of that, we have to remember that sex is very easily obtained in his culture, prostitution is legal in the Netherlands and it's not a puritanical society at all. Countless beautiful young Dutch women are available professionally in any city there and Joran could easily afford it if he needed to (Is Aruba a Dutch territory? I've been assuming it was and has Dutch laws. Maybe I'm wrong.) But anyway, I would think he could always find girls to sleep with in a tourist mecca like Aruba, or anywhere else where there were casinos, clubs, etc.
Who knows, what if he can't perform sexually because he's been on steroids, or can't perform because he has some trauma or problem, then becomes humiliated and doesn't know what to do? Or can't perform because of drugs or alcohol and then becomes enraged. Who knows. Do we even know if he's heterosexual? For some reason, in the video where he was claiming he had wanted sex with Natalee, it just made me think it wasn't true. That he hadn't ever wanted sex with her. But that's just me. Heterosexual or not, what if he's just a hater of women? What if he was abused by nannies when he was a child? We have no idea.
Maybe he just becomes violent if he desperately needs a drug fix. Maybe he goes into blind rages when on certain drugs or blacking out on alcohol, or has PTSD from being abused in boarding schools and has violent outbursts, who has any idea? I do wonder what the situation is with him, and with these crimes.
For some reason, when Stephany's case came out, at first they were describing all these extensive injuries, and it made me think again maybe sex was not the motivator but something else. I wasn't surprised for some reason when the reports came out that Stephany had not been sexually molested. Though I'm not sure if that's confirmed yet, what is the latest on that? I haven't read or heard the latest on a confession in Peru, I need to catch up

Peru newspaper, La Republica, reports details of what it says is Joran van der Sloot's confession
By The Birmingham News

"Here is a direct translation of what Peru's La Republica newspaper posted on its web site about Joran van der Sloot's reported confession. The newspaper does not say how it got the information.

Dutchman: 'Yes, I killed Stephany'"

Article goes on to talk about what La Republica posted with a link to the web site.

And, includes this:

Other quotes in the article that are attributed to van der Sloot:

"I didn't want to do it. The girl got into my private life."

"She grabbed my laptop without my permission and she found out through photos and videos that I was accused of being in a murder in Aruba."

"She had no right. I got close. She was scared. I approached her. We argued and she wanted to escape. I grabbed her by the neck and I hit her."

"We arrived at the hotel. We were going to have sex, but beforehand I went to go buy some breakfast. When I came back she just wanted to leave. She had gone through all my stuff."

My comment: Poor, poor Joran van der Sloot, he just cannot help himself, he has to lie no matter what.

On the interview he did with Greta some time back he said he had no contact. So, maybe it's true. I don't know when that was taped.

I believe he committed extortion and killed Stephany because his trust fund is cut off. His mother must be so embarrassed.
