BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - Investigators from the Bennettsville Police Department are asking for the public's help in locating Shantae Brown, who was last seen on Saturday.

Lt. Larry Turner, spokesman for the department, said Brown could potentially be with an older white male in a grey or silver pick-up truck. The truck, investigators believe, could have a Texas or Tennessee tag.

Brown is described as a black female, standing 5'5" and weighing 140 pounds.

Anyone with information on the woman's location is asked to call the Bennettsville Police Department at (843) 479-3620 or Marlboro County Dispatch at (843) 479-9999.

A Texas man who moved to Bennettsville two years ago to work in construction will spend the rest of his life in prison for the 2010 death of a Marlboro County woman. A jury deliberated only about 30 minutes before finding 37-year-old John Lee Hogan Jr. guilty of murder in the June 5, 2010 stabbing death of 29-year-old Monesha Shante Brown of Bennettsville...

Hogan told investigators he took Brown to his house in Bennettsville shortly after they met. He said he found Brown going through his wallet and became enraged. “He became so enraged, he threw her into a plaster wall, and the wall cracked,” Lee said. “He then cut her neck, bound her hands and put her in the bathtub. She begged for her life, but he said he went and smoked some more crack”... Hogan returned to the tub and stabbed Brown several more times...

The following morning, he stuffed her body into a construction barrel he had, drove out to the wooded area and disposed of the barrel.
