ESPN analyst held in Conn. on child porn charges

"Jeremy Green, an analyst for ESPN and son of former NFL coach Dennis Green, has been arrested on a child pornography charge in Connecticut.

Bristol police say Green was picked up on Thursday around 5 p.m. in a Southington hotel and charged with possession of child pornography, possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Izzy I had just seen this. I don't have cable so I have no idea who he is. His dad is Dennis Green? No?

The article I found has some snarky comments.

I don't know who he is either, but how convenient that the warrant is sealed. Is that to protect his reputation or is there a good reason this was done?

I thought the same thing Salem. I googled images of him and found someone that I think might be him. I didn't click on the link though because I wasn't familiar with the website.

Interesting...this story broke on Friday and I'm really surprised at the lack of coverage by the mainstream media --obviously it's embarrassing for ESPN, the ABC/Disney mothership and for Dennis Green, Jeremy's Dad, but wow....6 articles when you google Jeremy's name??

Most of the discussion about this story is on the sports blogs...

And you guys are asking me? Me, who barely knows the difference between a football and a basketball? Other than my one shining soccer star, our family is not a sports family. I didn't even know what ESPN was until two weeks ago, when my son texted me and asked me to find a soccer score for him. I know this breaks kbl's heart (the little ball is a baseball, right?).

I try to start threads on the atypical child porn cases--the ones where the perp is in the helping professions or well-known. This one intrigued me as it seemed high profile and the warrant was sealed. I wish I could start one on everybody. So, sorry to disappoint but I just started the thread.

I'll be very interested in how this turns out. One thing I've learned from past arrests of sports stars or personalities is that they've often had access to children through sports camps. Being the son of a well known coach, might also open that door. I hope not.

I wonder why he was at the hotel?
Was there a sting operation perhaps? Was he there to "meet" somebody?
Agreed the sealed warrant & lack of press on this seems hinky.

ESPN Analyst Child Porn Arrest Was a Joint Effort

"A newly unsealed warrant for the arrest of a former ESPN football analyst shows that Bristol and Missouri police worked closely together to track down the man who is accused of making comments online that he was looking to molest children.
The joint efforts of both departments resulted in the arrest of Jeremy Green, who is now facing various charges including child pornography, the Bristol Press reports
Green was found in a Southington motel on July 6 after Bristol police were cleared to have an Internet provider track where the screen name "jjack0721" was using a computer, the Press reports."

"The race to find Green began after he allegedly started a conversation online with a woman in a "Parenting" chat room on June 28. Green then reportedly sent her 17 photos of a blond-haired blue-eyed toddler in suggestive clothing and sexual positions, as well as three videos of children having sex with adults.

    and

""What Green didn't know is that the woman he reached out to was a detective from the Missouri Sheriff's Office. According to the warrant, he asked her if she would bring her children to Connecticut so he could have sex with them...."

Sooo it was a sting!!!!!!!!!! Makes sense that he was at a hotel & why they were being so secretive.I'm glad they got him!
I will make another prediction tho.........his defense will be that he wasn't serious & only wanted sex with the woman. He will also blame drugs & 'stress'(marriage/finances etc)in his personal life<sigh>

This was the most thorough article I could find. Odd that the mainstream news is barely picking it up. Can someone please explain the statement, "sentenced to twenty years, suspended after five" to me. Does this simplistically mean that he'll serve five years and will stay out of prison for the remaining fifteen if he stays out of trouble?

Jeremy Green pleads guilty in child pornography case

"Former ESPN analyst and Cleveland Browns scout Jeremy Green, the son of former Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals head coach Dennis Green, has pleaded guilty to one count of child pornography and was sentenced to 20 years in prison, suspended after five, according to the Hartford Courant.

Green was accused of sharing sexually explicity photos and videos of a toddler on the Internet. He was also sentenced to 10 years of probation. Green was chatting online with a woman with the handle, 'lendingmom12' who told him she would bring her three children to Connecticut to meet with Green. The woman was a detective, though, working undercover. Green used the screen name, 'jjack0721.' That online chat led to his arrest.

At first, Green was charged first-degree possession of child pornography, possession of narcotics and use of drug paraphernalia. He admitted to police that he was a habitual cocaine user.

    and

"....Over 100 pornographic images, including girls between ages 2 and 10, were found on the computer, according to police. Green was fired by ESPN following the arrest."
