Elderly Alberta couple missing under suspicious circumstances. They headed out from their home in St Albert, Alberta on July 3. Their burning RV was found July 5, in a campground west of Edmonton Alberta and the SUV they were towing is missing. Family members reported them missing, when they didn't show up in Abbotsford BC on July 10 as planned.

The RCMP has asked for the public's assistance in finding them.

The Hyundai looks similar to this

Alberta licence plate ZPK 289,

I don't think anything good will come of this. As soon as I heard the motorhome was found burning, I thought foul play. I really hope these fine folks are okay and home soon. I live near Edmonton and am keeping a lookout for that Hyundai. I wonder if searches are being done near the camground the motorhome was found? Does anyone know how I could find out if volunteers are wanted to search? Very sad.

A facebook was started by their son.

Edson is right on Highway 16. The Highway of Tears. Too much bad stuff happens on that highway. Google Highway of Tears and see what I mean. Many missig people.

Family of missing St. Albert couple speaks out

The son of a missing St. Albert couple spoke out at a news conference Tuesday afternoon. Bret McCann says he wants his parents, 77-year-old Marie Ann McCann, and 78-year-old Lyle Thomas McCann, to know that their family is working hard to find them.

"We know you are out there...you may be hurt,we are looking as hard as we can for you," said Bret McCann.

There is a website for the "Highway of Tears". It's about all of the people who have gone missing from it.

It doesn't sound very good for this couple. I hope I'm wrong and my prayers are that they will be found safe.

Also from the above article:
Officers do not currently have any suspects in the burning of the RV. A volunteer search and rescue team is now scouring the area near the campsite. In addition to searchers, investigators from RCMP Edson and 'K' Division detachments, as well as a canine unit, are also walking around the area.

The road leading to the campsite is pitted with deep pot holes. Family members say the couple never planned to go to the campsite, they say their first destination was supposed to be Blue River, B.C.

BBM
So why did they drive all the way down that road to Minnow Lake? It looks like it is more than 20 km off the highway. Perhaps it wasn't them that drove it there?

Minnow Lake was only a few hours away from their home (approximately 200 km), while the planned destination was much further (almost 600 km).

And in this article:

St. Albert couple Lyle and Marie Ann McCann last used their credit card on July 3.

They bought gas at 9 a.m. on their way out of St. Albert, heading to a campground in Chilliwack, B.C. to spend time with their daughter.

So what happened between Edmonton and Edson??

omg this is not looking good at all

how horrible

Thank you Ruby for all the updates.

You are right Snoopster; by all accounts it seems the McCanns were not planning on going down to Minnow Lake. Looking at the map, apparently they didn't even make it to Edson. What could have happened to make them change their plans?
Anyone knows if there were thundershowers/lightning that day?

This is so heartbreaking; it was hard to watch the News Conference, specially after the reporter asks Bret "if you could say something to your parents, what would you say?" :(
