Father Alleges Terri Horman Had Help With Son's Disappearance

"Catching criminals is a lot like catching fish," said criminal defense attorney John Hingson III, who is not involved with the Horman case. "What you need to do is to let the fish run and don't try to grab him before it's too early. The police are letting Terri Horman run." <snipped>

Kaine prepares family's home in hopes of Kyron's return

Sources tells KGW that Terri Moulton-Horman, Kyron's stepmother, was in Portland Sunday but returned to her parents' house in Roseburg.

She moved out of the former family home Friday after Kaine Horman requested her eviction as part of a restraining order.

Police experts tell us her living arrangement will neither harm the investigation nor speed things up.

Meanwhile, back in his Northwest Portland home for a day, Kyron's dad Kaine tells KGW he's preparing the missing seven-year-old's bedroom for an eventual return. Kyron disappeared from Skyline Elementary on June 4.

By "getting Kyron's room adjusted for all of the wall of hope notes and items, I think he will be really overwhelmed by everything that everyone has done for him," Kaine Horman said via electronic communication.

Terri Horman moves to Roseburg neighborhood

Terri Moulton-Horman's parents are longtime residents in Roseburg. On their front door a sign explains that the family will not be making any statements to the media camped outside.

Neighbors said they had not seen Terri as of Saturday night.

NewsChannel 8 tried to find Terri in Roseberg for comment Saturday but could not locate her. Earlier this week in court, Terri's lawyer described the focus on her as a "witch hunt."

Multnomah County sheriff, DA to ask for about $438,000 to support Kyron Horman inquiry
    Oregonian - Updated: Monday, July 19, 2010, 1:35 PM

Multnomah County Sheriff Dan Staton and Multnomah County District Attorney Michael Schrunk will ask the county this week for an additional $438,643 as a criminal inquiry into case of missing 7-year-old Kyron Horman proceeds.

The proposal will go before the county board of commissioners on Thursday.

The sheriff's office is requesting $242,609 to support the salary of a one-year investigative technician and for four months of overtime, from July through October.

In its request submitted to the board, the sheriff's office says it has generated over 3,000 leads that has filled up 38 four-inch binders, and has subpoenaed 200 sets of records, each record generating from 10 pages to hundreds of pages of paper records.

A lead investigator, two detectives and an investigative technician are assigned to examine all these records. The sheriff's office is seeking overtime funding for these four positions for four months.

If the case were to come to a conclusion during this time, then the investigative technician's position would end, the sheriff's office said.

"With a dozen staff and well over 1200 man-hours through July 9th, the office is in it for the long haul," the district attorney's office wrote to the board. "But this does take much needed resources away from working other cases that routinely come into the DA's office. If and when an arrest is made, the (work) continues for the DA office through the trial and penalty phases and will also require resources to coordinate the thousands of documents associated with the case."
