Cops raise reward in Kyron Horman case

http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/26184891/vp/38444970#38444970

Notes (profiler Van Zandt):

- For the first time, in the presser yesterday, LE did not refer to Kyron as being alive.

- It appears LE is going back and redoing all their leads, which suggests, along with the doubled reward, LE is 'challenged' at this point.

- Although Terri has been convicted in the court of public opinion, we haven't seen one shred of evidence against her.

"When Desiree (Young) approached the podium, she was visibly upset in a way we haven't seen before. As I carefully listened to the prepared statements from the two sheriffs people as well as Desiree's prepared script, what struck me was the fact that whenever Kyron's name was mentioned yesterday, about bringing him home or finding him, never once was it ever mentioned in the context of being alive. I think that's somewhat significant given their past statements and given the sheriff's statement last week in writing where they could not answer affirmatively they have any information to believe kyron is alive. We may have turned the corner with how the family feels here."

But is the time that passed or some kind of information that's perhaps changing this family's feeling?

McCain said, "The sheriff's office said they don't have any information to lead them to believe he is alive. They had a chance to fix that or clarify that yesterday and they chose not to. But seven weeks, no answers, no information. Desiree just seemed to have reacted yesterday much harsher than some of her well-composed interviews."

McCain said the press conference held on Tuesday was about giving "noninformation."

he parents of Kyron Horman say they were surprised that grand jury was looking into the case of their missing 7-year-old boy.

Kaine Horman and Desiree Young say they haven’t been asked to testify before a Multnomah County grand jury and had no knowledge that Dede Spicher, a friend of stepmom Terri Moulton Horman, would be subpoenaed to appear Monday in the case.

“[She] shows up at the courthouse and I got a call — ’saw Dede at the courthouse, it was a zoo,’ ” Kaine Horman said Tuesday, when he and Young sat down for an interview with WW.

Terri-Moulton Horman, the step-mother of missing 7-year-old Kyron Horman, will not contest her estranged husband's request for a divorce, as the case continued into its 54th day with no sign of the boy.

Reliable sources said Wednesday the motion to abate document was filed by Terri's attorney Peter Bunch. In it, Terri agreed to divorce, saying that intense media and law enforcement scrutiny and speculation prevented her from handling the case in an ordinary fashion. The motion would allow a judge to dismiss the case from a trial docket.

Kyron Horman update: Do investigators believe Kyron Horman is alive or dead?

One question that has not been answered, and may be avoided by investigators entirely is whether or not they believe that Kyron Horman is alive. Kyron Horman has been missing since June 4, 2010 from Portland, Oregon. Though his family continues to hold out hope, there was a glaring omission from the recent press conference held by lead investigators in the Kyron Horman case: the mention of searching for Kyron alive.
