I was shocked to see, this morning, that this young man has not been found. This is not far from where I live, but in a very desolate place, and the specifics of this case seem strange. Ryan's cell phone was found in the car and he has missed visits with his baby daughter. It seems like we've had a rash of large and strong young men going missing lately.
Note: This is my very first "missing" post. If I've made any mistakes can a moderator please help, thank you.
Search continues for missing Medford [OR] man
"A grief-stricken family is desperate for any piece of information that could lead to the whereabouts of a 25-year-old Medford [OR] man who has been missing since June and whose car was later found abandoned in a rugged area near Klamath Falls.
A search by three counties is under way for Ryan Finchum, who was last seen June 3 in Medford, according to his mother, Leigh Finchum.
".....it is "extremely" out of character for her son to not regularly contact his family, including his 7-month-old daughter...."
" his 2002 Dodge Intrepid was found June 7, mired in mud and water in a desolate area south of Klamath Falls near the California border.
"From what we understand that is a place where criminals dump stolen cars," Leigh Finchum said.
Police found Finchum's cell phone and other personal items inside the car. The fact that the cell phone was left behind disturbs his family.
"He would never, never leave that cell phone," his mother said.
To date, Jackson, Klamath and Siskiyou county sheriff's departments have joined in the search, using ground crews and air support. A search group of 45 people combed the Klamath River Canyon on all-terrain vehicles but could not find a sign of Finchum...."
"Finchum stands 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 250 pounds. He has red hair and several tattoos, including "FINCHUM" splayed across his should blades, a large Celtic cross with praying hands clutching dog tags across his back, two M-16 rifles on his left bicep and a skull with a rattlesnake on his right bicep.
Finchum grew up in a military family and lived in several spots across the country. He lived for a time in Norman, Okla., where he still has friends...."

WOW!!! Similar timeframe to Kyron. Very strange coincidence.
So many of these cases lately, such a pattern with the cell phones left in the vehicles. What the heck is going on?
Praying for Jason.
Where is Kayla Berg?
Searching for Stephanie Low.
I find it to be eerily similar to the disappearance of the young men in Utah and of Luke Stevens of Tonganoxie, KS. Most of these are big guys. I found a little bit more info:
Ryan had just been arrested for a DUI and had had a hospital stay. I wonder if the poor guy is suffering from PTSD, depression, or stress over the arrest. Likely, if he'd had an arrest like this, he might be precluded from transporting his child. I wonder if that could be an element.
With all of the accidental deaths in Oregon this summer, I won't be surprised if he has fallen or drowned. Or was suicidal and no one knew. I hope they find him soon, regardless of what has happened to him. I honestly think the pain of a missing loved one must be equal to or greater than knowing a loved one has died.
Just my opinion, of course.
His mother, Leigh lives in Texas. Family has put up a $2500.00 reward.

7/16/2010 news article:
The road between the J.C. Boyle Dam and the Copco Reservoir is commonly used by rafters. But it is hard to find, and cars often get stuck.
Evinger said the driver of the Intrepid appeared to be trying to get around a flooded area but got so deeply mired there were several inches of mud inside the car.
Thank goodness, local papers are now running Ryan's photo. With his red hair and fair skin, he will not do well out in that area. It's been blazingly hot with temps near 100 every day for the past two weeks.
I do wish they would provide us with a map as to where the car was found.
My prayers continue for him and his family.
The news says his car was between JC Boyle Dam and Copco Reservoir.. this would be right near the Oregon California border.
Sad to say, I have lived here all my life and I have never been to that area.
If it is mostly for rafters as the news says it is, then it is probably a dirt road.
The car was mired in mud up to the headlights, so he would have had a time getting out of the mudhole.
I am wondering if there were rafters or others on the river that day, maybe someone took pics.
Here's a map of the area. Not sure exactly where the car was found, though. I wanted to point out that we had a very wet and late Spring this year. Summer didn't really arrive until the first of July. The rains stopped just a week before Ryan went missing so there surely could have been lots of mud.
KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. -- Rescue teams with the Klamath County Sheriff's Department recovered a body believed to be that of 25-year-old Ryan Finchum early Sunday morning.
Ryan Finchum found deceased. Autopsy scheduled for next week.
Crews still haven't positively identified the body, but Finchum's car was found just upstream from where the body was found back in June.
from the above link.
I think we still need to wait for an official id.
Prayers to Ryans family while they await official id.

Oh. I'm so sorry.
Man found in Klamath River identified as Medford resident
Authorities not sure how Ryan Finchum died
"Investigators have determined that the body of a man found in the Klamath River near the Oregon-California border is that of Ryan Finchum of Medford, but it's not clear how he died.
Klamath County Sheriff Tim Evinger said the identification was made during an autopsy Thursday. Examiners were unable to find any indication of foul play. Evinger said Finchum likely drowned but it's not discernible whether it was accidental.
"They don't see anything to cause alarm, but not enough to tell how he died," Evinger said of the medical examiners...."
