VA - Myspace Date Leaves Girl Stabbed And Raped
A 17 year old who made a date with a guy she met on Myspace wound up stabbed and raped in Annandale, Virginia.
27 year old Rony Herrara was arrested for assaulting the girl and DNA was taken. LE said the girls injuries were consistent with the statement she gave to them.
This kid is lucky to be alive. I don't like when people say that after someone has been sexually assaulted, but it is true. This kid's parents may have never seen her agin. BTW, the perp was to take her for something to eat and a movie. Instead he takes her to a townhouse and attacks her.

Let me go on record as saying I hate myspace, facebook, craigslist, match.com and every other site out there.
Bless this poor young woman and her family as they struggle to heal. May the POS rot in hell.

I don't like the way this particular ( BBM) sentence is written.
A detective wrote in a search warrant affidavit that Herrera molested the girl, stabbed her several times with a folding knife, then dragged her to a staircase and raped her.
Police interviewed the teen at Inova Fairfax Hospital Saturday night and say she had injuries consistent with her statements.
Court records show police have obtained a DNA sample from Herrera. He is being held in the Fairfax jail without bond.
Is it just me, or does it sound like they are implying that she mave have been lying about the attack.?!?! Note in this article they refer to the female as 'the teen'- never the victim.
In another article it more aptly says :The victim was treated at a local hospital for non life-threatening injuries.
Police arrested and charged Deleon with abduction, rape and malicious wounding.
It also says:
Police are asking anyone who may have had similar contact with Deleon to contact Fairfax County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS(8477) or call Fairfax County Police at 703-691-2131.
Charges are: abduction, rape, object sexual penetration and malicious wounding per this link:

On a happier note: I met mr. zig on myspace
Rules for internet dating are to talk on the phone first, do a background check and then meet in a public place each with his/her own transportation and never go anywhere with dudes you don't know.
I did a really dumb meet from myspace one time though and it turned out fine but the hindsight is that it was way too risky.
I feel really bad for this girl. It's hard enough to trust anyone today and she's just suffered a horrible attack that will diminish any trust she did have.
It's open season on women and girls...just remember that. When we ARE the prey, we have to start acting and reacting like it.__________________

I'm so bad -- I finally let my teen have an e-mail account, but I set the settings to have copies of all e-mails forwarded to me (shhhhh....he doesn't know). Sorry, but I think all parents should be aware of what their kids are doing. I tell my son, until he's 18 years of age, I'll always be in his business.
It's not that I don't trust him....I don't trust the outsiders. I've seen e-mails that have been sent randomly saying - "hi, I'm so and so, 30, and looking for a relationship. Give me a call, I'd love to talk to you". ICK.
My prayers go out to the family, and the poor young woman who suffered so.

I don't have a problem with social networking sites in general. As long as if there is going to be dating that either gender is at least 18 and knows how to protect themselves.
This child was 17 and I'm so sorry to hear that this predator did this to her.
