Kyron’s Parents in Touch With Oprah but Say They Won’t Take Money for the Story
11:08 AM July 30th, 2010

The parents of missing 7-year-old Kyron Horman tell WW that producers for Oprah Winfrey have contacted them. But Kaine Horman and Desiree Young say they won’t take money for the story of Kyron’s disappearance.

“We wouldn’t sell it,” Young said in an interview Tuesday.

“Oh yeah,” Horman agreed. “It’s not about money.”

While they said they’ve been in contact with producers from The Oprah Show, they said they’ve received no offers yet for book or movie deals.

Desiree: "8 weeks a hard marker to hit" since Kyron missing
Updated today at 11:41 AM

The mother and father of missing Portland seven-year-old Kyron Horman are once again pleading for help to find him, and answered questions from reporters Friday morning.

Desiree Young said she had "a feeling" Kyron was "stashed" somewhere, reiterating the theory she outlined to People magazine earlier in the week.

"Eight weeks is a hard marker to hit," she said in reference to his disappearance from Skyline Elementary on June 4. "My theory is that Kyron's alive and someone's holding him. We don't know how many, we don't know who," she said. "We don't have any evidence to show that he's not (alive.) That's a big deal."

Kyron's parents: He's still alive and being held somewhere
Father and mother tell reporters they plead with stepmother every day to cooperate
The Portland Tribune, Jul 30, 2010, Updated 2 minutes ago

Kaine Horman said he wanted anyone with information about the boy’s disappearance, even bits of information that might seem unimportant, to come forward and talk with investigators. The search for his son could take investigators outside Oregon as they follow tips in others states, he said.

Kaine Horman challenges those with information to come forward in Kyron Horman case

Published: Friday, July 30, 2010, 1:24 PM Updated: Friday, July 30, 2010, 6:19 PM

It's been eight weeks today since his son Kyron disappeared, and Kaine Horman had some strong words for anyone who might be hesitant to share information that could help find the boy.

"I've heard people say that they're afraid to get involved and to come into this and you know," Horman said, his voice steely. "It makes me really emotional...he's afraid, OK? There's no fear that should override his at this point in time. So if you feel you're afraid, put yourself in his shoes for two minutes, OK? This is about him. This is about finding him."
