HYANNIS — Local and state police are searching for a 23-year-old Nantucket woman reported missing since Thursday night, according to Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O'Keefe.

Trudie Hall of Hatch Circle on Nantucket was officially reported missing by the Nantucket police Thursday. Yesterday, helicopters were patrolling the skies near Independence Park in Hyannis, and officers spent hours examining a car allegedly involved in Hall's disappearance, a Barnstable police official said.

Neither O'Keefe nor local law enforcement officials would say when Hall traveled from Nantucket, but a Barnstable police official said the car being processed for evidence is a rented Toyota Avalon.

Law enforcement officials had no comment on where the car was found.

The police would also not specify where Hall was last seen or what she was wearing at the time she disappeared. She is a black woman, 5-feet, 5-inches tall, with a slender build, the police said.

BARNSTABLE - (with WXTK) Barnstable and Yarmouth Police along with the Cape and Islands District Attorney's office are conducting a missing-person search on Cape Cod. D.A. Michael O'Keefe confirmed the search to WXTK but refused to identify the missing subject or any details except to say the person was from off-Cape. Later he reportedly identified the missing person as Trudie Hall, 23, of Nantucket, missing from the island since Thursday.

BARNSTABLE – A team of state and local police officers resumed their search at dawn today looking through the woods and fields off Independence Drive for signs of a missing Nantucket woman.

Trudie Hall, 23, of Nantucket, was reported missing Thursday.

The Barnstable police recovered a rented Toyota Avalon yesterday in connection with the case. They would not say where they found it. Police examined the vehicle for evidence behind the Barnstable Police Station yesterday.

A state police helicopter also began searching the area around noon today.
More than 10 police officers from Barnstable and the state, as well as more than one police dog, started at 5 a.m. searching beneath the power lines near the end of Independence Drive, by Mary Dunn Road.

They also searched an area off Hathaway's Pond and a section of woods at the end of the commuter lot off Route 132 in Barnstable by the Burger King Restaurant.

Missing Nantucket Woman Feared Dead

"Other police sources from several agencies have indicated that investigators believe Hall is dead."

So, so sad -- such a beautiful girl.

Have investigators or media released the name of her baby's father?

Have investigators or media released the name of her baby's father?

No. They haven't released much at all -- including what she was wearing when she was last seen, what she was doing off-island, or what was discussed in her last conversation with her family. Very strange, unless they know exactly what happened and are trying to keep a tight lid on things from a questioning perspective. But who knows with this D.A. (see: Worthington, Christa and Reine, Melvin)...

I'm not so sure this isn't another case of sloppy reporting (like that we've seen so much of lately in other cases) because several articles suggest the person whose home they searched and who has been referred to as the father of her baby is married (to someone else)...

ETA: now I'm not sure...some refer to Wilson as the father of the baby...other's as someone she knew who is being questioned...the one article said she was married but her mother said she didn't think so...strange....
