NEW CARROLLTON, Md. - Prince George's County police have "persons of interest" in custody and being interviewed by detectives in connection with the murders of four people -- two women and two children -- whose bodies were found in a filthy apartment above a detached garage in New Carrollton.

The news source says they were maybe from the Congo. So slum landlords -no water, toilet, etc i think they had electricity. Believe it or not a roof is better than nothing when you have children. Depends on what your used to.

MD - Two women, 2 kids murdered in Lanham apartment, 6 Aug 2010

RIVERDALE, Md. Police say two women and two children have been found shot dead in a trash-filled Washington-area apartment that had no running water.
Prince George's County, Md., police say the amount of trash is hindering the investigation of the bodies found in the makeshift apartment above a detached garage at a home in Riverdale.
The victims were two women in their late 30s, three-year-old girl and five-year-old boy.
Officers found the bodies early Friday after responding to a call from someone at the property who reported an assault. Police wouldn't say how the victims died.
Police Chief Roberto Hylton said whoever killed the victims may have known them, and the slayings attack appeared to be "personal" rather than random.

At the beginning of the article it states that the victims were shot, but then reports that "police wouldn't say how the victims died". Am I missing something?

I noticed that too. Maybe they are saying that because they don't have confirmation on COD yet.

Sounds like, from this article, police are saying they are conducting numerous interviews and may have a "person of interest" if I read that right.

Also, it sounds like either all or most of the victims are here from Congo.

    From June 2014:

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/local...07b_story.html

A Texas man found guilty in the 2010 slayings of two women and two children in Prince George’s County was sentenced Friday to multiple life terms without the possibility of parole — the maximum punishment possible after Maryland lawmakers recently banned capital punishment.

Darrell Lynn Bellard, 47, was convicted of four counts of first-degree murder and several related charges in April. State prosecutors say that Bellard, with help from his girlfriend, killed 38-year-old Dawn Brooks; her 41-year-old sister, Mwasiti Sikyala; and Brooks’s son and daughter — Shakur Sikyala, 4, and Shayla Sikyala, 3.
    From October 2014:

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/local...c10_story.html

A Texas woman who pleaded guilty to helping her boyfriend fatally shoot two children and two women in drug-related murders in Lanham in 2010 was sentenced to life in prison Friday morning.
