They were expected to return Monday.

also found this snip interesting (note it is the opinion of a talking head/BM)~

"It looks like Dede's opening up," attorney Bruce McCain, a former captain of the Multnomah County, Oregon Sheriff's Dept., told "Early Show" co-anchor Monday. " ... This is not a search-and-rescue. This is a forensic search for criminal evidence, more than likely, something very specific that Dede told them about. It could even very well be one of these untraceable cell phones."

Investigators will only say they are looking for "forensic evidence," but other sources say the search is for one or more disposable cell phones which Kyron's stepmother and her friend bought under false names.

That information reportedly came out of closed grand jury testimony late last week.

Just got off the phone with Multnomah Sheriff’s Department and they confirmed a “tip” led them to bump up the search again for 7-year-old Kyron Horman. Kinda knew that but, wanted to see if they would comment about reports that the “tip” came from family friend, DeDe Spicher. They wouldn’t tell me if that’s true. But, Spicher told a Grand Jury on Friday that she, another girlfriend and Kyron’s stepmom, Terri Horman, each bought an untraceable cell phone the day the little boy vanished.

ETA: I left a comment on this reporter's page for clarification on her reporting (ie: when cell phones were purchased and if in fact DDS testified on friday)******

An acquaintance of Terri Horman, who asked to remain anonymous, said Monday Terri was very upset in the weeks before Kyron vanished because she said her husband, Kaine, was making her teenage son move out of the couple’s Portland home.

According to the acquaintance, Terri Horman came to a 24-Hour Fitness a month to two months before Kyron disappeared and said Terri was furious, and kept complaining to anyone who would listen, that Kaine was allegedly making her teenage son move out.

Terri’s son did move out of the home in March.

Friends, who worked out with Terri Horman at that 24-Hour Fitness, testified before a grand jury Monday.

According to sources, the friends were not extremely close to Terri but they were close enough that Terri often confided in them with issues from her home.

Three grand jury witnesses declined to speak with reporters outside the Multnomah County Courthouse Monday. But all three, according to sources, are members of that 24-Hour Fitness.

KGW has learned that investigators are trying to determine the identity of a person who was seen sitting in the truck Terri Horman was driving the day Kyron Horman disappeared.
According to several sources in the Skyline community, including people who have spoken with investigators, the person was seen by at least two witnesses while Terri was in the school with Kyron.
Investigators have gone through Terri's cell phone and email records trying to establish who the person was.

The lead agency investigating the disappearance of Kyron Horman said it will release details in an effort to gather more information from the public.
Multnomah County spokeswoman Lt. Mary Lindstrand said the sheriff's office will hold a news conference at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brookshill Historical Church in northwest Portland.
"Captain (Jason) Gates, as well as a member of the investigative team, will be present to provide information on the case to solicit the public's help and answer questions," deputies said. "No details will be released prior to the press conference on Wednesday."

and another snip~~~~~~~~

Deputies said Monday the search was related to the investigation, but did not provide details about what areas were covered or what prompted the search.

Kyron Horman update: Bruce McCain speaks about renewed search for missing Oregon boy

Former Captain with the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Department Bruce McCain spoke with CBS’ Early Show regarding the renewed search for missing Oregon boy Kyron Horman. He was asked what was behind the two new searches this weekend. A third search was conducted Monday, showing that investigators have reason to continue following leads.
Bruce McCain said that the current searches should not be confused with the searches that took place when Kyron first disappeared on June 4, 2010.

Bruce McCain described the initial search as a ‘massive search and rescue effort,’ one in where investigators and search crews were looking for a lost and alive boy. Clarifying that this weekend’s search was different he stated, “This is going to be a forensic search for physical evidence of criminal activity.”

He also said that he believes the grand jury process has successfully put enough pressure on Terri Horman’s circle of friends that has resulted in more information being revealed. He also suggested that they may be searching for one of the cell phones purchased for Terri Horman since his disappearance.

There is a theory circulating that Terri Horman stashed, or hid Kyron somewhere. Bruce McCain suggested that the cell phone may have information that would indicate whether he was being held somewhere.

A press conference will be held on August 11, 2010 to update the public on Kyron’s case.
