I've been waiting a long long time for this. I've written about Jamie on several other threads but I think he's earned his own. Can we hear, once again, from all the neighbors and community members who said that Jamie is such a nice man and keeps a lovely garden? Just a misunderstanding, maybe?

He photographed little boys in our town in public!! He hung out at the YMCA pool. Hear that, Mercyneal?? He's been active in community events for years. He's had access. IMO, he's pleading in order to keep the sordid secrets, secret. I could have told these men that Judge Schiveley doesn't brook with child *advertiser censored* traders.

Shame, shame, shame.

Now, can we hear who the little boys in the images are? This man lived three blocks from me for over ten years. I have nine sons and I'd like to know.

Auchincloss to plead guilty to sex abuse felonies in plea deal

"Ashland resident James Auchincloss, half brother of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, will plead guilty Wednesday to two felony counts of first-degree encouraging child sexual abuse as part of a plea deal to avoid trial, the Jackson County district attorney's office said today.

Co-defendant Dennis Vickoren of Eagle Point will plead guilty to two felony counts of the same crime, said Deputy District Attorney David Hoppe. The hearing will take place at 11 a.m. before Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Mark Schiveley."

and

"Scott Clay, a former Jacksonville city planner, will plead guilty at 11 a.m. today to one count of second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse, Hoppe said...."

and

"....In the summer of 2008, Ashland police began investigating Auchincloss and Vickoren in connection with child *advertiser censored*. In October police searched Auchincloss and Vickoren's homes and found graphic images of young boys, according to search warrant affidavits.

Police have said they believe Clay, Auchincloss and Vickoren all traded the images......"

An interesting earlier article from our local paper in June 2009:

News of child *advertiser censored* investigation draws concern
Some Ashlanders rush to the defense of James Auchincloss

"The news that police are investigating Ashland resident James Auchincloss, half-brother to the late Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and Eagle Point resident Dennis Vickoren for possession of child *advertiser censored* has left many locals shocked and upset.

Since publishing the story a week ago today, the Daily Tidings has been inundated with e-mails and phone calls from concerned locals. Some want to know why the news wasn't reported sooner — and others wonder why it was reported at all...."

and

"..."My immediate reaction was indignation. I know James. He's a very generous, kind person and I was appalled that you could put this in the newspaper without any charges being filed," said Ashland resident JR....."

Daily Tidings City Editor Myles Murphy said the newspaper decided to publish the story because editors felt locals had a right to know about the child *advertiser censored* investigation.

"This was not a story we could sweep under the carpet," he said. "A well-known man in position of authority with at least one local group that works with children [Oregon Stage Works] was being looked at by police in an investigation related to child *advertiser censored*. People had a right to know what was going on....."

A little backstory here. Jamie was turned into LE by a former assistant and friend who saw the images on his computer. That young man was vilified by many in the community as being spiteful in response to some monetary debt. To me, not one whit of the motivation matters. What matters is that the child *advertiser censored* was there, it got reported, and a man who had a great many opportunities in life now has a reputation as a sexual felon. He should have considered those issues before he collected the images. The fact that he photographed local children gives me the creeps. I realize that the children were clothed (as far as I know) but I don't want pedophiles drooling over my children's beautiful photos.

Here's a link to the backstory and the comment about him hanging out in the "kiddie pool". Thankfully, after this story ran, he gave up his membership at the YMCA. One really wonders why a man of Auchincloss's financial means didn't belong to one of our private sports clubs?

http://www.dailytidings.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090604/NEWS01/906040321

There's also several links at the page above including one to a story about why Jamie was ostracized by the Kennedy family. The man is now 63. I wonder how many children he has victimized?

Thanks for this. Very interesting. Maybe that's why Dr. Ayres used to go up to Ashland!

http://www.oregonlive.com/pacific-n..._plead_guilty_in_child_porn_case_da_says.html

From the Oregonian:

".....Though the charges are eligible for a sentence of probation, Auchincloss told The Associated Press that he expects to have to serve some time in jail or prison, and has been examined by a psychologist who reported to prosecutors that he had no *advertiser censored* problem.

"Whatever they thought the problem was has been cleared up," Auchincloss said. "I will be a guest of the state. They'll see me and I'll see them and we'll come to an understanding."

Auchincloss said he will spend any time behind bars writing.

"I am planning to write a lot while I am a guest of the county or the state or whatever they want to call me a guest of," he said. "I am working on something. Whether it becomes a memoir or play, or a made-for-TV-movie. It has all the elements of everything you don't want to be and have......"

Am I just angry and jaded or does Mr. Auchincloss act as if he's making light of the seriousness of these charges? No *advertiser censored* problem? I tend to disagree. This is not about an unexpected life experience. This is about the victimization of children.

Ermmmmmmm yeah I'd say the guy is making light of it, Izzy. Cocky son of a gun.

Not that it should matter a whole bunch, but he is the son of the guy Jacqueline's mother married? Is he her mother's son? If that makes sense?

O.K. never mind. I see it here. He's her brother. Have the same mother. JMO when someone has the same mother they aren't "half". Again not real important.

O.K. here's an article back from 2003 I believe where pervie explains why he moved to Ashland.

Oh no mention that he collects child *advertiser censored* and stalks little boys.

YES!!!!! Not as much time as I would have liked but jail time. The Jackson County Jail is not a pleasant place and they really don't like child *advertiser censored* collectors. Thank you, Judge Schiveley.

BREAKING: James Auchincloss begins serving jail term for child *advertiser censored* guilty plea

James Auchincloss - who as a boy carried the wedding train of his half-sister Jackie up the aisle as she married John F. Kennedy - was sentenced Wednesday in Medford on two counts of encouraging child sex abuse.

Each count carries a 30-day jail term and 3 years of probation. Auchincloss will have to register as a sex offender and attend counseling. He reported immediately to begin serving his sentence. It wasn't immediately clear if the terms could be served consecutively...."

30 freaking days. Gee, that oughta really slow him down. You have to be kidding me. When are judges going to start taking this seriously? 30 days? Grrrrrrrrrrr.

You know Belinda, I knew it wasn't going to be for long. I think the little trick Auchincloss tried to pull last week by saying that he knew he was going to be a "guest" of the county or state was just that. I truly believe he thought he'd get off with only probation. I think Judge Schiveley trumped him by slapping on the 30 days.

No, it's not what I really want but I'll take it. Our county jail is not a nice place and will be a huge wake-up call for Auchincloss. Last time I checked, there are no silver spoons in lock-up. His case has had quite a bit of press in our valley so no doubt some of the inmates will know what he did. What I'm pleased about is the probation and the lifetime registry and the public validation that this man is a slimeball. What? I'm not hearing from all those who jumped to his defense back when he was charged. They were indignant about the bad press this wonderful man had received. Hmmmmm. I wonder how many of them visited at Auchincloss's fine home with their grandsons. Those people might want to give that some time to sink in.

Also, it is affirmed that the photos were of naked prepubescent boys posed in sexual poses.

Dennis Vickoren, a former Rogue Valley Transit employee and Scott Clay, the former Jacksonville, OR City Planner also pleaded guilty to similar charges. The three were reported to have exchanged photos. This case has drug on for almost two years. I have to think that those years were not pleasant for the three men.

I also found this:

http://www.wtop.com/?nid=104&sid=2026913

".....Auchincloss and Vickoren kept an extensive collection of child *advertiser censored* in books, slides and computer files at Auchincloss' hillside bungalow.

Prosecutor David Hoppe said investigators reviewed the images seized from Auchincloss' home and identified local residents in them, but after interviewing them were unable to elicit any complaints of actual sexual abuse of a child.

Defense attorney Carl Caplan told the judge that none of the photos depicted sex acts, and Auchincloss and Vickoren "did not realize they were operating in the world of child *advertiser censored*."

Auchincloss and Vickoren will pay $1,000 in assessments and forfeit seized images deemed to be *advertiser censored*. Others will be returned to them.

Caplan read a statement in which Auchincloss apologized to the victims of his crimes, declaring the acts unacceptable and stupid...."

So, I'm assuming this means that they get to keep the photos deemed non-pornographic of local boys. Now, that does not make me happy. That's plain creepy.

Hope the police keep a close eye on Auchincloss and friends. Can we assume they will be listed as RSO's now?

Poor Jackie O. Apparently she had a falling out with him years ago when he sold Kitty Kelley some bad information for her book about Jackie. As they say, you can choose your friends, but you can't choose your relatives.

Auchincloss will have to be a lifetime registrant. I'll have to check on the other two. Here's a snip from an earlier article:

http://www.nypost.com/p/news/regional/item_kzUUnyTJpWfz0URsAagdPI#ixzz0x1ERGeGY

James "Jamie" Auchincloss showed an unusual obsession for his half-nephew John-John when the Camelot prince was just 7, sources said. He repeatedly asked the boy to pose for pictures, said one source, who added that Jackie didn't want him anywhere near John-John.

By the 1980s, the Kennedy clan was so concerned by Jackie's half-sibling's proclivities that they warned Auchincloss, now 62, to stay away from the family, sources said.

When Caroline Kennedy dropped her bid for a New York Senate seat in January, Auchincloss' neighbors immediately thought it was related to an Oct. 14 search of his Ashland, Ore., house, which turned up the child *advertiser censored*.

"My first thought was, 'Caroline dropped out because of Jamie.' They can't withstand that," said Carolyn Shaw, 56, who has lived next door to Auchincloss for 10 years and said she has put her house on the market because of the scandal.

Those bombshell revelations come amid another explosive development: Auchincloss has acknowledged publicly that he likes to look at sexually provocative photos of young boys...."

Vickoren received an identical sentence and will be a lifetime RSO as will their friend, Scott Clay:

http://www.mailtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20100814/NEWS/8140307

"Jacksonville's [OR] former chief planner will spend 20 days in jail for having a single image of child *advertiser censored* on his work computer last year.

Scott Clay, 56, also will register as a sex offender
and undergo sex-offender treatment under a plea agreement signed Friday in Jackson County Circuit Court...."

30 freaking days. Gee, that oughta really slow him down. You have to be kidding me. When are judges going to start taking this seriously? 30 days? Grrrrrrrrrrr.

I am with you on this one, Belinda! 30 days is a tremendous insult to the victims and all victims of this revolting crime.

And why is there no pic or booking photo? I say plaster his face all over everywhere!

People are probably shocked that I'm not shocked. I'm biding my time. I don't think the story is entirely told yet. Remember, Judge Schiveley was the same judge who convicted our children's rapist of 12 counts and then sentenced him to eight days served. The rapist was ordered into community based treatment. We were shocked at the time but just relieved the ordeal was over (it's still not!!). But did the young man follow the rules and present himself for polygraphs and sexual history disclosures? No. And four months later, Judge Shiveley remanded Ryan Smith to the Oregon Youth Authority for ten years. My guess is that Judge Schiveley knows exactly what is going to happen when these men confront the requirements and rigors of treatment.

As I said, I don't think the story has all been told. Here in Ashland, I honestly don't think that it's sunk in just how many photos of local children these men have. It's going to, though.

Mr. Auchincloss is in segregation at the Jackson County, OR jail. Seems they received a death threat against him. To me that seems awfully "convenient". I have a feeling that Jackson County is just watching out for his safety due to liability issues.

And FWIW, I've seen lots of comments at different sites about the "best attorney money can buy", etc. I beg to differ. Mr. Caplon is a fine attorney, I'm sure. He's well known in our valley. He was our children's rapist's first attorney. However he also presented himself to the judge at our children's rapist's Post Conviction Relief trial stating that he'd failed to represent his client appropriately. Although I know Mr. Caplon to be a snappy dresser, I found it almost laughable how he was dressed at the PCR trial--rumpled and mismatched clothing. I mean no disrespect of Mr. Caplon at all but I would have to say that money can buy far more experienced "big names" than Mr. Caplon.

Here's a photo of Auchincloss, as a "guest" (his choice of words) of the county:

http://inmate.jacksoncounty.org/Inmate.aspx?SheriffOfficeNumber=00120163&BookingNumber=1006056

Auchincloss's two friends have different times set for their 20 and 30 days in jail.

Not that I keep an eye on this man, or anything. Oh no. I could have told the man that if you are 15 minutes late for your court ordered therapy or miss a check in, they'll hook you up every time. I could have told him about his particular PO and how he doesn't fool around or have much of a sense of humor.

I have to say it is refreshing to see that the parole and probation officers are actually applying the same punishment to each and every offender. My son had a violation and spent 3 days in the same jail this month but then moved over to the work center for the remainder of his 2 weeks. He loves the work center as he enjoys the food and the work. He's homeless and PVs are so frequent when you must move your sleeping spot each night. I wonder if Auchincloss will ask to move to the work center. You get to clean out the stables at the Expo Center.

I also wonder if he's in segregation this time around.

Auchincloss back in jail

December 27, 2010

The half-brother of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis spent Christmas in jail after allegedly violating his probation for his August conviction on child *advertiser censored* charges. James Auchincloss, an Ashland resident, was arrested Dec. 22 and lodged at the Jackson County Jail, where he is being held without bail. He is scheduled to be released Jan. 21. Auchincloss, 63, is not believed to have committed any new crimes but is suspected of violating the terms of his supervision..."

and

"We're investigating a possible breach of his supervision, so that's why he's currently incarcerated," he said. Auchincloss' probation officer, Glenn Sandy, initiated the arrest, after becoming aware that Auchincloss may not have complied with the terms of his supervision..."

and

"...We're consistent with the way we supervise all offenders," he said. "Mr. Auchincloss is no exception." This is the first time Auchincloss has been back in jail since Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Mark Schiveley sentenced him on Aug. 18 to 30 days for two felony counts of first-degree encouraging child sexual abuse, Gaoiran said. As part of a negotiated plea agreement with Jackson County prosecutors, Auchincloss acknowledged possessing and distributing photographs of prepubescent children, images prosecutors described as lewd and lascivious in nature.

Schiveley also ordered Auchincloss to serve three years' probation, during which he must stay away from children and undergo sex-offender treatment. He must also be registered as a sex offender for the rest of his life....."

And another photo of the man who is a "guest" of the county. At least he's still not smiling. Maybe the reality is starting to sink in:

http://inmate.jacksoncounty.org/Inmate.aspx?SheriffOfficeNumber=00120163&BookingNumber=1009456

Just wondering how many WSers know exactly what is required of RSOs while in treatment. I do. I happen to have a son who is a RSO in the very same county and who is working with the very same professionals as Mr. Auchincloss. The only difference is that Mr. Auchincloss is, no doubt, of normal intelligence. Our son has numerous documented special needs. In this system, none of that matters. Not a whit.

When our son absconded two years ago, he left behind a backpack with all his "homework". Being the nosy and curious mother that I am, I went over everything with a fine tooth comb. He was found, sent to state prison for a year, and is now living on the streets. My guess is that no one who is fooling around with illegal interactions with youth have any idea what sex offender treatment entails. My son was 18 and made the very foolish mistake of trying to have sex with a 16 year old in his special ed class in high school. Mr. Auchincloss was caught with hundreds of "lewd and lascivious" photos of young boys. Being that I have nine sons and live only a few blocks from the man, I would be shocked to learn that he didn't have some photos of a few of my sons, who were quite visible in the community, and extremely handsome.

Pity he didn't ask me about this system. I could have told him what to expect. The Jackson County Jail is not a warm and inviting space. The could care less what you truly hold dear in your life or who your family is.

Mr. Auchincloss will be required to keep a log of all sexual experiences, encounters, fantasies, and masturbatory practices. He will have to log every single time he encounters a victim or someone who closely resembles his victim profile. He quite possibly would have been asked to use the elk urine method--sniffing a vial of elk urine every single time he has an impure thought (or any thought of which his therapist does not approve).

All these logs and notations would be used each and every time he undergoes a disclosure polygraph. These can occur as often as once a month and cost $90 each. The RSO must pay for them or will be jailed for a parole violation if he cannot afford one. His want to make certain that he is disclosing absolutely everything.

I would imagine (and hope) that Mr. Auchincloss is being held to the very same restrictions that our son is--no contact with any family members and no support by any family members. You are on your own. A funeral, a holiday celebration, the birth of a niece or nephew--you're out of the pool. No traveling at all. No parties or gatherings.

I have a strong suspicion that many people who fool around with breaking the laws concerning sexuality and children have no earthly idea as to what the rest of their lives are going to be like. As my son often tells me, prison is so much easier than living under a bush. At least you get food and can receive mail.

Well, he's back. You'll all have to pardon me, please, for "beating a dead horse". I simply can't help myself as this man's case has intrigued me from day one. I think it's an eye-opener to watch as an intelligent and independent 64 year old man of means comes face to face with the reality of living under the pall of the sex offender treatment system. Jamie didn't really think that all these rules would apply to him. He must have thought that the therapists and would be polite and slightly more respectful of him than say, a real sex offender. Well, he was wrong again:

http://www.oregonlive.com/pacific-n...siss_half-brother_jailed_again_in_oregon.html

Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis's half brother jailed again in Oregon

"Nate Gaoiran told the Ashland Daily Tidings that 64-year-old James Auchincloss was arrested Wednesday and has been held without bail pending a hearing. Gaoiran is the program manager of the county's sex offender unit.

Auchincloss is serving three years' probation after being sentenced to 30 [he served 23] days in jail. He was accused of having photos of naked boys at his home...."

Gotta keep up that log, Jamie.

ETA: He's not looking quite as pleased with himself as he was a few months ago.

How did he get only 30 days in the first place?????

Salem

Wouldn't I like to know, Salem. An employee of his reported several years ago that he had seen Auchincloss and his friend, Dennis Vickoren (also convicted), looking at child *advertiser censored* of little boys. The High Tech Crimes unit came in and took the computer and Auchincloss stepped down from many of his positions around Ashland. His neighbors, though, rallied to his defense--talking about all the good he's done for Ashland.

The county took over a year to analyze the child *advertiser censored* and ended up returning scores of "candid" local shots to the men. The others were deemed pornographic. Another man, the former city planner for the town of Jacksonville, OR, Scott Clay, was also charged. Vickoren and Clay were producers of a local public TV show called "Wilde Life" which dealt with issues of interest to the gay community.

All three men pleaded guilty and were sentenced to 30 days. With "good behavior", they all got out in 23, I believe. Auchincloss was kept in seclusion the first time around as he said that he'd received a death threat.

From everything I've read the DA was pleased with the sentence but the young man who reported the behavior was NOT. There were a number of comments in our local paper at the time from young men who'd been harassed by these men. There's also the issue that at least Auchincloss frequently took photos of young boys around town. LE said that they've interviewed all the children (all???) and no charges were brought. That's where my concern gets the better of me. This man moved to Ashland back in the early 90s and has been taking photos at parks, the YMCA and parades ever since. How in the heck did LE find all these boys? I have nine sons who are quite visible in our community and we lived two blocks from the man for 15 years. How can we, as a community, really know just what this man still has in his position? It really bothers me.

I'm also not real pleased with Auchincloss' "smirkiness" about all this. I'm very hopeful that his passport has been seized.

Another article, this one sounding a bit more ominous:

http://www.dailytidings.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20110308/NEWS02/103080306

Auchincloss jailed after allegedly violating probation again

"....At the hearing, which is expected to occur in the next five or six weeks, a judge could decide to send Auchincloss to prison or could release him to continue his probation, said Deputy District Attorney David Hoppe. "This time the alleged violation could have much more serious consequences," he said. "His probation could be revoked and a judge could send him to prison."

"There are no new criminal charges relating to new crimes," Gaoiran said, "but I can't say whether the alleged violation was treatment related. I can only say he violated the conditions of his probation in some fashion...."

and

"....Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Mark Schiveley sentenced Auchincloss on Aug. 18 to 30 days for two felony counts of first-degree encouraging child sexual abuse. As part of a negotiated plea agreement with Jackson County prosecutors, Auchincloss acknowledged possessing and distributing photographs of prepubescent children, images prosecutors described as lewd and lascivious in nature. Schiveley also ordered Auchincloss to serve three years' probation, during which he was ordered to stay away from children and undergo sex-offender treatment. He must also be registered as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

This is the second time in three months that Auchincloss has ended up in jail for an alleged probation violation. On Dec. 22, he was arrested for allegedly violating his probation by failing to comply with the rules of his sex offender treatment program, Hoppe said. Auchincloss apparently failed to report all of his behavior to his sex offender treatment group and disclosed that he had been negligent just before a scheduled polygraph test..."

more at link

If you try the old trick of disclosing something just prior to a polygraph, they hook you up....every time. It is a person in treatment's responsibility to report every contact with a minor and all sexual and masturbatory activity immediately and to not wait until just prior to the polygraph. It all has to be called in and logged. Auchincloss just thinks the Jackson County Jail is bad. Wait until he gets to Salem!!
