Circumstances of Disappearance
Ronnie Davis was last seen at his corral, where he had gone to tend his horses. Two men who drove by the corral told the family they remembered seeing Ronnie jump into the back of his 1975 pickup as two other men stood by, one of them smiling and holding a rifle.
The two witnesses didn't stop, though. They said that as they drove on, they saw a blue and white Buick, with Texas tags, parked nearby.
Neither Ronnie nor his pickup was ever seen again. Police did not become involved until three days later, and that they found no clues. Ronnie didn't pack any clothes and most of his valued possessions were left in his room.
Family members say they think Ronnie was mistakenly linked to the theft of marijuana growing in the area and was killed because of it. Ronnie did not take drugs, or drink alcohol. Family members said they think someone may have stolen marijuana from a field and stored part of it in Ronnie's corral. They believe the owner discovered the marijuana in the corral and thought Ronnie was involved in the theft and had him silenced.
Ronnie Davis’s pick up truck is still missing; it is a 1975 Ford XLT 3/4-ton pickup white over royal blue. Oklahoma License Plate # 440-699, serial # FALV 30056. Foul play is suspected.
Ronnie, a part-time calf roper who competed in rodeo events, had a good-paying job at the nearby Weyerhaeuser company and had money in the bank.

Ronnie O’Dell Davis was a 24 year old, who shared a home with his father near Swink at the time of his disappearance. He worked at Weyerhaeuser. He was also a part-time calf roper competing at rodeos.

Ronnie has left work August 24th 1977 to go corral his horses. His land and Corral was 3 miles from his home. Witness reported seeing two men, one of the men had dark hair, a well-kept beard, and wore wire-rimmed glasses. The other gentleman had longish-blond hair. The bearded man was holding holding a riffles at the Corral. A blue and white Buick with Texas plates was reported being seen nearby. None of his belongings or clothes where missing from his home. Foul play is suspected in his disappearance.

Ronnie’s white over blue 1975 Ford F350 XLT 3/4 ton with license plate number 440-699 has never been found.

One theory is even though Ronnie was not a drinker and did not do drugs, this could have been drug related. The theory is that someone stole marijuana and stored it in Ronnie’s Corral. The marijuana growers found out and killed Ronnie thinking he is the one who stole it.

Ronnie’s family is still actively searching for answers. They have put up $2,500 reward for information helpful in locating Davis' remains while the OSBI is offering a separate reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for Davis' death.

The family has also created a Facebook page- (1) Ronnie Odell Davis | Facebook. Ronnie was obviously quite loved and is greatly missed. This family deserves answers of what happened that day in August to Ronnie.

If you have any information in Ronnie’s suspicious disappearance please contact the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation at (800)522-8017.
