Case Review #1: Thread #2: LE Press Conference & Release: June 6 2010

Today's case review topic is the LE press conference and press release of June 6.

Before beginning the Case Review, please read the Introductory thread here:

[ame="http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112566"]Introduction: Kyron Horman Case Review #1: LE Press Conferences & Releases[/ame]

The first post in that thread explains the Case Review. The second post in that thread contains the Case Review schedule.

Thread #1 for this Case Review is here:
[ame="http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112614"]Kyron Horman Case Review #1: Thread #1: LE Press Conference & Release: June 5 2010 - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community[/ame]

** Please note that it's important, since we'll be reviewing a variety of information, that we don't turn this into a General Discussion thread, and cause more work for our mods.

** The goal is to look for new information, information that now has more meaning to us than it did earlier, and document it here, so let's stay focused!

** If we want to discuss possible meanings of what we find, let's do it in one of the discussion threads, so we can stay focused on our fact finding mission here.

Let's get started! :)

Thanks!

News Release from: Multnomah Co. Sheriff's Office MULTNOMAH COUNTY SHERIFF DANIEL STATON WRITTEN STATEMENT/ PDATE ON MISSING KYRON CASE
Posted: June 6th, 2010 9:33 PM

http://www.mcso.us/public/newsroom/Kyron_Soccer.jpg

As promised, I am making another statement this evening; the investigative team has briefed me on the status of the operation and investigative steps as we continue to press forward. We have interviewed close to 200 children and want to thank the children and their families for coming in to help us as we try to bring Kyron home. Based on everything I know, we will continue to run this operation as a missing child investigation. Given the passage of time and the weather, we are characterizing this case as a missing endangered child. By escalating this to a missing endangered child case, we hope to heighten the focus and maintain public interest.

I want to reiterate the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office commitment to this effort and want to thank media outlets, all of the allied agencies which have joined in the effort and the public for your extremely valuable support.

We have developed a lot of information which has to be processed thoroughly, and I am not in a position to divulge any specifics of our investigative plan at this time. I will share with you that search efforts will continue and that secondary searches of some areas will be undertaken. We will also be continuing to interview students and anyone who has or believes they have information related to the case.

Thank you, Sheriff Daniel Staton

**Attention Media***
The next press briefing is schedule for Monday May 7, 2010 at noon at the Historical Church across the street from the Skyline Elementary School.

A lot of parent/student interviews......am I missing where they interviewed teachers and other school employees?

video at about 4:30. please help me fill in the blanks.

woman reporter asks question:

reportedly--------------hallway. Was that relative to the statement the stepmom gave-----------was the last person that saw them at that location.

staton answer:

actually that statement came from one of the children that was here earlier this morning and was interviewed.

Second picture in the slideshow of Kyron's classroom shows what looks to be a laundry string strung in front of the windows. It looks like the teacher used clothes pins to attach pictures, etc. This reinforces my belief that the blinds stayed closed except for about an inch at the bottom. The windows face the walkway to the access road.

We need an interview thread. The other day I was trying to hunt down every time interviews were mentioned, who was interviewed, and how far along they were on different dates. It was a mess. Then I found where they started *re* interviewing. I gave up.

Need a thread to hunt it all down. Maybe a mini timeline for it. I'll start a thread in a bit. We can start posting to it as we read today.

notes on video:

-grid searching a "particular" area.

-as of this morning interviews were still going on of kyron's parents and step parents. no new information gathered but information given in earlier interviews is remaining very consistent.

-Time line changed? No but being filled in. We have shut down avenues and are narrowing our focus.

6pm final debriefing. then we will start the discussion as to which direction we need to start pin-pointing this entire operation.

Date at bottom BBM. Is this a typo or an original error?

Post #3—Slideshow of classroom. Speaker’s notes: “Sheriff’s Capt. Jason Gates said teachers described Kyron as ‘an energetic student, a very social kid who loves to play soccer and build model cars with his dad. (End quote missing on slideshow which indicates the original quote from Gates continued.)

Everything else I have read or heard regarding Kyron’s personality/demeanor was in stark contrast to this quote—always accenting his timid nature. Since this came from teachers, it gives one pause concerning why he may have been timid except at school.

I guess I'm wondering how the teacher would know whether Kyron loved to build model cars with his dad. Did Terri tell her that? I just had to fill out a form describing Princess PeePee's likes and dislikes, things she loves to do, what can frustrate her, etc etc. I know Terri took tons of pictures of Kyron doing just these things, but how'd the teacher know? I'm guessing it's because Terri filled out the same kind of form.

It's only his mother and father who describe him as shy and reserved. Even the pictures we've seen of him kind of belie their statements.

Threadworthy. I only remember Desiree and the PTA lady Zimmerman saying Kyron is shy and timid. I can't remember Kaine saying it.

Definitely need a thread to explore where Kyron acted how, and who describes him how. See if we can get a clearer picture.

You all are way ahead of me. I haven't even started watching the vid or reading the articles yet lol. Having a hard time getting myself going this morning.

FBI Spokesperson Beth Anne Steele, in Portland, said the CARD team members are experts on finding missing children. A description on the FBI website says "CARD Teams are primarily involved in non-family child abductions, ransom child abductions, and mysterious disappearances of children."

Looks lke I posted in the wrong place. Anyway all I had to add was that as of June 6 the sherifs dept had been interviewing kids and parents and had the timeline gaps "filled in" per the sheriff at presser. (LINK ABOVE)

Now, I wonder if he means timeline till 8:45, or how long does their filled in timeline stretch as of that date? See, its stuff like this that we cant get that makes this so dang frustrating.

Makes me sort of wonder why parents thought he was shy and reserved, yet he was outgoing at school? Was the disicipline at home so harsh that Kyron had learned to just keep his mouth shut, fade into the background as much as possible, and avoid confrontation? (with either parents, I'm not naming names here). What would make a kid shy at home and outgoing at school, think about it. It should be the other way around, if anything. I am going to have to ponder this one.

Please remember that this is a thread for analyzing the information released. If you'd like to pick a topic and create a discussion thread, go for it! :)
