Circumstances of Disappearance
Woodson was last seen on August 29, 1981 when he and a male relative went to a convenience store.
The relative went into the store but left Woodson in the vehicle since he was asleep. When the relative returned to the vehicle, he discovered that Woodson was missing.

Anthony was last seen on August 29, 1981, when he and a male relative went to a convenience store. The relative went into the store but left Anthony in the vehicle since he was asleep. When the relative returned to the vehicle, he discovered that Anthony was missing. Anthony's nickname is Burt.

Uncle was arrested Texas man arrested in nephew's cold case murder 37 years later

He was beaten by uncle. The body has still not been found though. Poor baby.

Police say he admitted to killing nephew, 5. But his attorney tells a different story

FORT WORTH

A man accused of killing his young nephew 37 years ago and then making it look like a kidnapping, insisted to his attorney Wednesday that he did not confess to police and “never touched the child.”

Walt Cleveland, the court-appointed attorney for Terry Lee Woodson, said he met with Woodson for about an hour Wednesday at the Lon Evans Correction Center.

But the affidavit says a former playmate of the boy, recently told investigators that both Woodson and his wife had been abusive to Burt up until his disappearance.

The friend, as well as a second playmate, also told police that they heard Burt getting beaten on the night of Aug. 27, 1981, while he was home alone with his aunt and uncle.

When they inquired about Burt the next morning, they told police, Della Woodson told them Burt was in trouble and they would not be seeing him. They never saw the boy again, the affidavit states.

Cleveland says he hasn’t seen or heard any recordings of the interviews with his client so he can’t file any motions to suppress the alleged confessions yet.

I looked him up in Tarrant County, but he's not there.... If anyone has any better luck than me - please post court hearing, if you find one.

"...Walt Cleveland, Woodson’s court-appointed attorney, says he’s eager to learn how the interviews were obtained and why the two childhood friends – whose claims police allege corroborate Woodson’s statement – only surfaced now.

“Usually if a child is being abused that severely, it doesn’t stay secret for very long,” Cleveland said. “Somebody could have picked up the phone, called CPS, called the police department. There might have been rumors about it back then. In my experience, these things don’t happen in a vacuum. Why is this the first we’ve heard about it, when this poor child disappeared?”

Cleveland said he tried to see Woodson onTuesday but was told Woodson was undergoing dialysis.

“I’ve, obviously, got a lot of questions for him, too,” Cleveland said...."
