KS - Extremely Dangerous Sex Offender Escapes
Caught on Camera: 'Extremely Dangerous' Sex Offender Escapes Custody in Wyandotte County, KS
"WYANDOTTE COUNTY, Kan. - A convicted sex offender simply walked away from the Wyandotte County courthouse Monday morning, and it was all caught on camera. Now there's a man-hunt for 60-year-old George Dudley. The State of Kansas believe Dudley is so dangerous they've kept him in custody even though he finished serving his sentence nine years ago.
The Sheriff's Department wanted to make it clear, Dudley wasn't their inmate. He was being escorted by employees of Larned State Hospital, which holds some of the state's most dangerous sex predators. Yet, when offenders come to court they don't always have to wear prison jump suits or even hand-cuffs.
On Monday, Dudley was wearing a polo shirt and blue jeans. He was dressed like a civilian because, technically, he was not an inmate. He's a sex offender being held on what's called a civil commitment...."
"....Dudley was convicted in 1997 for showing teenage boys pornography in his trailer home in Edwardsville and then asking the boys to do more than watch...."

I live close to Kansas, in the neighboring state. This is football season, so many boys are out at practice, or just playing outside. This is terrifying! Thank you for the heads up. Someone seriously dropped the ball watching this man! Im thankful that KS has civil commitment in place for dangerous offenders, but what good is it doing us if they aren't actually supervising these individuals...

Escapee Got Ride From Courthouse
The sex offender who walked away from custody while at the Wyandotte County Courthouse Monday was picked up by a woman he had called beforehand.
Police say George Dudley, 62, called the woman before the court appearance and told her to pick him up.
Dudley had been held at Larned State Hospital since the end of his original sentence in 2006 because he was deemed too dangerous to be released.
In an interview with our Larry Seward , Dudley's cousin called him manipulative and said he likely 'charmed' his way into privileges that included not being restrained during his appearance at the courthouse. Click the attached media player to see more of what his cousin had to say.
Dudley's original sentence had ended in 2006, but he was deemed too dangerous to be released and has been confined to Larned ever since.
Investigators say the woman, not knowing Dudley had not really been released, picked him up at the Wyandotte County Courthouse and drove him to 39th and Main streets in Kansas City, Missouri, where she dropped him off.
After doing so, she heard he had actually escaped and called police. Authorities believe she was not aware of his escape from custody.

Does anyone know why G. Dudley isn't listed on the Kansas Sex Offender Registry?

Escaped sexual predator is caught in Kansas City
"Police today captured a sexual predator who escaped from the Wyandotte County Courthouse on Monday and had bought a used car.
George Dudley’s run ended at 1:46 p.m. Tuesday when Kansas City police arrested him, Police Chief Jim Corwin reported in his blog.
He had just bought a green Ford Taurus at a used car dealership and told staff he needed a temporary tag and planned to drive to Kentucky, Corwin said.
