Circumstances of Disappearance
Claudia Tinsley was last seen getting into a 1995 blue Chevrolet outside her Baker Street home about 20.15, September 8, 1996. Suspicious before she got into the car, she told her mother to take down its license. Foul play is suspected. She is the mother of three young boys.

Only two officers available for missing person cases in the area at the time. "Depending on who takes the report, missing persons may be logged in different local, regional, state, and national databases - even different computers within downtown's police headquarters." Claudis apparently was not on the list of missing at that time.

Details of Disappearance
Tinsley was last seen getting into a blue 1995 Chevrolet sedan outside her home on Baker Street in Toledo, Ohio at 8:15 p.m. on September 8, 1996. She was suspicious before she got into the vehicle, and asked her mother to write down its license plate number in case she didn't return. The vehicle was being driven by a Caucasian male. Tinsley has never been heard from again.

Foul play is suspected in Tinsley's disappearance. She has a criminal record and investigators believe she was using crack cocaine at the time of her disappearance, but it is uncharacteristic of her to leave her mother or her three children without warning.

Several local women were murdered or disappeared around the same time as Tinsley; all of the victims were sex workers. A serial killer confessed to killing some of them, but other cases remain unsolved and it is not clear whether they are related.

Tinsley's disappearance remains unsolved. One of her children was killed in an accidental fire in 1997.

Has TPD (or anyone) ever tried to link this case to the disappearance of Susan Cummings? Similar circumstances (prostitution, drug use), location (Toledo -- 8 minute drive apart), and timeline (1996). I know Sue's family and they have never received any answers. I don't believe Claudia has ever been found either, sadly.

TOLEDO, OH – Police in Toledo are asking the public to help locate a missing 24-year-old woman.

24 year-old Claudia Tinsley was reported missing by her mother on Friday.

“The night before she was reported missing, Claudia was last seen getting into a vehicle with an unknown white male outside of her home on Baker Street,” police said. “Claudia is a white female with a tattoo of a dollar sign between the thumb and index finger of her left hand. At the time of her disappearance, she was 5’7 and 120 lbs with blonde hair and hazel eyes.”

Foul play is suspected in her disappearance, according to police. Family and friends reported that it was highly unlikely that she would have left her mother and her three children without any contact.




ETA: Whoops, I didn't realize that this is a case from 1996 and that there's a thread for Claudia! Reported.

It's scary when LE says that foul play is suspected -- all the more reason to find her asap.

Her pic makes her look older than 24 -- she has three children, so she probably doesn't have a lot of time for herself. Sad and worrisome situation. Hoping her mother is able to take care of the children for the time being. SMH.

Baker Street in Toledo looks a bit run-down -- people there are probably just trying to make ends meet. Hoping for good news, but also very worried about her.
