CONCORD, N.H. The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department has launched a full-scale search for an elderly woman who has been missing since leaving her home for a walk Tuesday afternoon (September 7, 2010). Beth Upton, age 85, of 96 Boulder Path in Waterville Valley, N.H., went out for a walk at about 3 p.m., a typical activity for her. She has not been seen or heard from since. Her husband, Frederick Upton, reported her missing later that afternoon when she had not returned.
Searchers began looking for Upton Tuesday evening (September 7, 2010), with Fish and Game Conservation Officers, Waterville Valley Public Safety personnel, New England K-9 Search and Rescue teams, and Upper Valley Search and Rescue teams deployed. Searches continued through the night, systematically covering a grid three-quarters of a mile around the residence.
Today (September 8, 2010), the search was expanded into a full-scale operation involving nearly 50 search personnel conducting line searches throughout the area.
Upton is described as having short gray hair and a slight build; she is 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds. (See photos at right.) Flyers with her photograph have been distributed in the Waterville Valley area.
Anyone who may have seen Beth Upton is asked to call the Waterville Valley Police at 603-236-8809 or N.H. Fish and Game Dispatch at 603-271-3361.
No further information is available at this time. Updates will be posted on the Fish and Game website as they become available.

Hope, fear and the unknown
Found this artical and its talks about her husbands thoughts..
Fred Upton, 91, talks about his wife, Beth, in the present tense.
Beth is beautiful, the former Concord lawyer says. She's a talented artist, an educated woman, a strong mother. Look beyond the onset of Alzheimer's disease, to the strength that helped Beth cope with the death of three of her four children from muscular dystrophy.

Yellow ribbons for Beth
Posted Sep 16, 2010
by Jan Stearns
Somebody pinned a yellow ribbon to Beth Upton's "Missing Person" poster at the Waterville Valley Post Office with a note inviting Beth's friends to join in a show of support for the Upton family. Yellow ribbons and bows sprinkled throughout the Valley on bulletin boards, in shop windows, on lamp posts, door handles, trees, etc. could serve as a low-key but visual reminder that we have not forgotten Beth.
In our collective stunned grief, we can still do something. Let's show the world that we're not just "The Town at the end of the road," but now more than ever "The Family at the end of the road."
Thank you for the kind and thoughtful idea, "Somebody."

A special thank you to Chris Masci, of SOWA, who donated the 10×10 area. LostNMissing set up a canopy as well as having information for families on what to do should a loved one go missing. Treats, safety bracelets and other trinkets were given to children who passed by the booth. Other missing loved ones were displayed at the exhibit such as Beth Upton, 85, Christopher Flynn, 40, Michael Brougham, 54, Maura Murray 21, Tina, 15 and Beth Sinclair, 34, and Tammy Belanger, 8, all unsolved missing and last seen in New Hampshire. Others missing from New England were also presented.
