In 1992 and 1993, seven skeletons were found in the forest, in what was described by media as The Backpacker Murders and was considered to be the work of a serial killer. Eventually, Ivan Milat was convicted of the murders in 1996 and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Bones found in the Belanglo State Forest last month are from a young woman believed to have been murdered years after serial killer Ivan Milat was jailed.
A forensic analysis of the bones has revealed the woman was aged between 15 and 25 when she died. A cause of death is yet to be determined.

The bones are believed to have been in the area for up to 12 years, but the woman could have been killed as recently as four years ago as a T-shirt found near the remains was only on sale between 2003 and 2006.

The T-shirt is described as being short sleeve, with a distinct motif featuring the word Angelic in pink text, a rose and a heart with angel wings.

The brand, Chain Reaction for Girls, is no longer available in NSW.

The size 10 shirt was found within 2m of the remains.

They say she doesn't fit the description of any ACT missing female, but her choice of t-shirt colors and the sleeper earring and to some extent even the white anklet sock is spot on for what appears to be Laura Haworth's personal style. Maybe they have already ruled Laura out with dentals?

POLICE yesterday said it was too early to say if skeletal remains found in the Belanglo State Forest last month might belong to either of two women with links to the Riverina.

THE mother of a missing Canberra woman fears bones found in the Belanglo State Forest last month may be those of her daughter, shattering dreams she could be alive.

Police are investigating the possibility that the remains are those of Laura Haworth, who went missing in January 2008.

Her mother, Beth Casilles, told the Sunday Canberra Times she felt sick when she heard of the find last month.

''While we crave closure, I felt sick thinking it might be Laura,'' Ms Casilles said.

''We harbour images of Laura enjoying a new life somewhere, not lying discarded near a log in the scrub.''

The NSW Police Homicide Squad announced last week that a forensic analysis had revealed the bones were from a woman who was aged between 15 and 25 when she died. Ms Haworth was 25 when she disappeared.

Ms Casilles contacted police in the days after trail bike riders discovered the bones near Dalys Waterhole on August 29, but was told they were not Ms Haworth's.

But she said earlier this week police told her Ms Haworth's DNA was being compared to the remains as it was possible she was the victim.

I believe that this woman may be Angelique DUMETZ. The problem is that Angelique DUMETZ's body has supposedly been recovered in France. I've been unable to clarify whether Angelique's body was identified by visual recognition of a family member, or via DNA identification. But the picture of them both is uncanny in their resemblance. I've been using Google Translate to try to decipher some of the French articles. Anyone on Websleuths read and write fluent French? I've attached the link to the picture.

I'm wondering whether someone made a mistake and the body they found was not her. Or could it have been a cover up. Where to go from here? I rang Australian Crimestoppers, they don't seem too interested in it ... the woman I spoke to wasn't aware of the search for Angel. Angelique I believe is French for the word "Angel". Two uncanny coincidences or a cover up or ???

I am a bit confused by the above article. So she worked for ten years but her estimated age range begins at 13?? Even if she was 15 when she started working, that is very young for a backpacker to start travelling?

sounds like it would be a young teen girl item of clothing
i don't think a woman's brand would say 'for girls'?
so i am leaning toward her being closer to 13 than 25

i do remember that brand for some reason, i think it was the type sold in kmart, etc?
